Tragic Helicopter Crash Claims Influencer Sofia Murillo and Family New

Tragic Helicopter Crash Claims Influencer Sofia Murillo and Family

Colombian influencer Sofia Murillo has died after she was involved in a helicopter crash in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She was 17. Murillo was with her mother, Wendy Manrique, and her grandmother, Rocio Cubillos, while riding in a four-seat helicopter with local tour agency Voo Rio Panorâmico near scenic outlook Vista Chinesa on Saturday, August 8, before the aircraft reportedly crashed into a wooded area and exploded, according to local outlet g1. The pilot, Alessandro Rocha, also died in the accident. Military personnel were called to the scene, where fire spread throughout the wooded hillside as a result of the crash. “The biggest challenge for the teams right now is access, both to enter and exit the site. The aircraft crashed in a very steep, wooded area with precipitous cliffs, where it is only possible to work using rope techniques and safety equipment,” Lieutenant Colonel Fábio Contreiras told g1 in a statement, translated from Portuguese to English. "When we arrived, in addition to the helicopter, there was also a fire caused by the explosion of the aircraft's fuel. That fire has now been completely extinguished.” The message concluded, “Now, our challenge is to find faster access routes to facilitate the work of the Civil Police and Cenipa forensics teams, as well as the future removal of the bodies. We are working to make this happen as soon as possible, preferably today.” Murillo’s uncle Victor Manrique told the local outlet that he was on vacation in Brazil with the three women, his wife and their 15-year-old daughter prior to the deadly incident. The family had booked a 20-minute scenic helicopter ride to see the Christ the Redeemer statue from the sky, g1 reported. While Murillo, Wendy, and Cubillos boarded the initial flight at 11 a.m. local time on Saturday, the other three family members waited in the hangar for a second aircraft. A lawyer for helicopter company Voo Rio Panorâmico reportedly shared in a statement to the press that it had yet to uncover a cause for the crash. The lawyer added that the company had permits to operate at the time and in the area, the aircraft’s maintenance was up-to-date and the pilot was licensed to fly, per g1. Rio de Janeiro’s Civil Police and Brazilian Air Force have reportedly opened investigations into the incident, per CNN Brasil. Murillo, who had more than 200,000 TikTok followers, was known for sharing her beauty tips online. Her last post on the platform was seemingly shared on Wednesday, August 5, showing her at the gym. The comments section of the video has since featured tributes to Murillo. “Rest in peace angel ,” one user wrote, translated to English, while another added, “I'm going to miss your tips, Sofi. You were one of the few who managed to boost my self-esteem with your advice. I'm going to miss you so much .”

Mark Zuckerberg's Yacht Controversy: What Really Happened in Alaskan Waters? New

Mark Zuckerberg's Yacht Controversy: What Really Happened in Alaskan Waters?

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg has denied claims that his $300 million yacht ignored a distress call from a nearby vessel that was stranded in Alaskan waters. It's been reported that a 21-foot skiff ran out of fuel between Juneau and Petersburg, in the vicinity of where Zuckerberg's mega-yacht on August 3. However, when the boat got into trouble , it was rescued by a much smaller ship. Now, Zuckerberg's representatives have spoken out against the allegations. What Mark Zuckerberg's response to the megayacht claims? Representatives of the billionaire said that he was not onboard the craft, called The Launchpad, at the time of the incident. Zuckerberg's spokesperson Brian Baker said that the distress call made from the skiff was broadcast on a different radio channel to the one being used on the Launchpad at the time it ran out of fuel. He added that by the time the Launchpad's crew had seen the broadcast, another boat was already responding and on its way to help. The skiff was eventually rescued by the Wilderness Legacy, a cruise ship operated by UnCruise Adventures. A litter to the Alaska Beacon from Baker read: "Mark and his family were not on board at the time of the incident. "As the Coast Guard noted, the boat was not in distress, and by the time the crew reviewed the Coast Guard contact on a different radio channel from the one they were operating on, the assist was already underway. We’re grateful all parties are safe." A user on Bluesky alleged that Zuckerberg's megayacht refused to respond (Picture: Bluesky) Cruise ship passenger questions the statements However, it may not be as clear-cut a situation as it seems. Reporting by the International News says that a user on the social media app Bluesky claimed to have been on the cruise ship Wilderness Legacy at the time it came to the aid of the skiff. The user, called Michael Love, claimed that "our boat rescued a stranded vessel last night and apparently we did that after the Coast Guard radioed Mark Zuckerberg’s yacht, which was closer, and they repeatedly refused to respond." According to the Alaska Beacon, vessel-tracking data showed the cruise ship had manoeuvred around the yacht before towing the skiff to Farragut Bay. Meta boss Zuckerberg originally purchased the Launchpad for $300 million in 2024. This was a source of aggravation for some critics, especially given Zuckerberg's staunch advocacy for climate change. Brad Pitt's Surprising Revelation About His Return to Alcohol New

Brad Pitt's Surprising Revelation About His Return to Alcohol

Brad Pitt is opening up about his current relationship with alcohol. In an Esquire profile published Monday, August 10, journalist Ryan D'Agostino pointed out that Pitt, 62, offered him wine earlier in their conversation and asked whether alcohol was just for guests. “No, I got — I was sober for seven years. And then I got back off the wagon,” Pitt replied with a “little laugh” before raising his eyebrows and holding up a finger. “In a more restrained manner. I got overconfident a couple times, went, ‘Yep, nope, not good for me.’ Not in big quantities.” Pitt went on to explain that he “can have a few” glasses of wine, but he has a limit. “But I can’t have a lot,” he explained. “I have to be professional about it.” Pitt has been candid about his sobriety through the years, attending Alcoholics Anonymous in 2016 after an incident on a private jet with his family that led to a child abuse investigation. He was cleared by the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services later that year. (One week after news broke of the incident, Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt. The pair’s proceedings were finalized in 2024.) “Personally, I can’t remember a day since I got out of college when I wasn’t boozing or had a spliff or something. Something. And you realize that a lot of it is, um — cigarettes, you know, pacifiers. And I’m running from feelings,” he told GQ in 2017. He continued, “I’m really, really happy to be done with all of that. I mean, I stopped everything except boozing when I started my family. But even this last year, you know — things I wasn’t dealing with. I was boozing too much. It’s just become a problem. And I’m really happy it’s been half a year now, which is bittersweet, but I’ve got my feelings in my fingertips again.” Pitt went on to form a friendship with Dax Shepard while attending Alcoholics Anonymous and later reflected on their dynamic during a 2025 appearance on Shepard’s “Armchair Expert” podcast. “You go around in a circle, it’s kind of a spiral because it’s a really crowded room. Dax was usually near the end because he’s been there a while. He’s kind of like an elder statesman. And I really respected it,” he said at the time. “It was really open, honest, was a way to take whatever theme seemed to go in the evening and then put it in the funniest package. And it meant a lot to me, it really did.” Pitt recalled trying “anything anyone threw at me” during that time in his life. “It was a difficult time. I needed rebooting,” he explained. “I needed to wake the f*** up in some areas.” If you or someone you know is struggling with substance abuse, contact the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) National Helpline at 1-800-662-HELP (4357).

AOC's Bold Move: Why Her Egg Freezing Journey Is Making Waves New

AOC's Bold Move: Why Her Egg Freezing Journey Is Making Waves

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is breaking down the costs associated with freezing her eggs after revealing she’s taking control of her reproductive future. “Cutting straight to the chase, this was one of the things that was most stressful for me, as well, when I was considering doing this — is cost,” the congresswoman, 36, said in a video shared via her Instagram Stories on Sunday, August 9. “My insurance does not cover one penny of this. It is 100 percent out of pocket. It doesn’t go to my deductible — nothing. It covers nothing.” On Saturday, August 8, the Democrat representing New York City’s 14th congressional district revealed she had made the personal decision to freeze her eggs amid ongoing speculation she may one day be a frontrunner for the Democratic nominee for president. “I want to share with you all a decision that is very personal that I have made that has taken me time to consider, weigh and save up for,” she said in a video also shared via her Instagram Stories. “And it is of a sensitive matter and a personal matter and usually I keep my private life quite private, but I have made the decision to start freezing my eggs.” Ocasio-Cortez went on to break down her personal cost of the procedure, noting that it can vary depending on a variety of factors including the clinic type, where the patient lives, medication needed and insurance costs for those who can obtain coverage. “So, there are two main sources of costs,” she explained in her Sunday upload. “So you don’t just, like, pay one lump sum to the doctor — you pay for the medicine and then you also pay your clinic and for the procedure. So there’s two costs of it. Some places are very expensive — I am going to a place in New York City that specifically designs options for women who don’t have insurance covering it.” She added, “So the grand total personally, for me, all in, is going to be probably between $8,000 and $9,000.” Earlier on Sunday, Ocasio-Cortez made an appearance on ABC’s This Week, telling host Jonathan Karl why she decided to go public — and document the experience for her millions of social media followers — about her decision to freeze her eggs. “I think, um, it’s important for us to normalize these conversations, especially in this political environment,” she said. “This [Donald Trump] administration is denying reproductive care to women across the country, from abortion rights to the ability to carry out a healthy pregnancy. I think it’s important for us as leaders to have these conversations and share these processes, especially for working women across the country, and normalize them.” Currently, the United States is the only industrialized nation that does not mandate paid family leave, per the Pew Research Center. The country also has the worst maternal mortality rate of any developed nation — a rate that has only risen after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v Wade, which granted pregnant people the Constitutional right to abortion access. States that have banned or severely restricted access to abortion have higher and rising rates of maternal and infant death, according to various studies. Intensive investigative reporting from various outlets has indicated that at least 12 pregnant women have died since Roe v Wade was overturned.

Anne Hathaway's Dazzling Maternity Fashion Steals the Show at Premiere New

Anne Hathaway's Dazzling Maternity Fashion Steals the Show at Premiere

Anne Hathaway’s maternity wardrobe continues to dazzle. Rocking a powder-blue high-neck top at the world premiere of her new film The End of Oak Street in California on Sunday, August 9, the pregnant star, 43, flashed her bump as it popped atop a pair of low-slung jeans. Positively radiant, Hathaway paired the top, which featured a long train and was lined with a red interior, with a red pop lip and red pointed heels. She wore her long dark mane back in a high ponytail that showed off drop earrings to create subtle sparkle, too. Hathaway’s newest maternity look, which continues on from a series of beautiful ensembles sported while promoting The Odyssey, comes after she subtly flashed her bump while attending a recording of SiriusXM's Andy Cohen Live in New York City less than one month ago. The July 16 outing saw the actress pair another top that fell with a trail behind her as the front of the garment cut just above her navel. Hathaway, who is expecting her third child with husband Adam Shulman, announced her pregnancy via a sweet Instagram video on June 19. (Hathaway and Shulman, 45, are already parents to sons Jonathan, 10, and Jack, 6.) In the clip, which was captioned “x Baby I’m yours,” the Devil Wears Prada star walked into the camera frame before shifting her hands to reveal a growing bump. She then flashed a warm smile before jolting away from the camera. During a July 14 appearance on the Late Night With Seth Meyers show, Hathaway confessed that she was surprised to learn that she was pregnant with her third child. “We knew what we were doing but … we were so shocked it went this way,” she said at the time, adding that she and Shulman were “calling this one our buzzer-beater,” referring to a basketball shot that succeeds right before the final buzzer. The talk show interview also touched on how pregnancy is impacting Hathaway’s emotional state, with the film star arguing that Meyers, 52, couldn’t joke about her and director Christopher Nolan being “on a break” between 2014’s Interstellar and this year’s The Odyssey. (Hathaway starred in the former film, as well as Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises in 2012, before the latter was released last month.) “You can’t say we were on a break when I’m pregnant,” Hathaway said to Meyers during their chat. “I have, like, the way my body just was like, ‘No we weren’t, he was just … in Dunkirk.’” (The historical war film was created by Nolan, 56, in 2016, and released the following year.) Hathaway recently spoke to Access Hollywood about expectations she had while trying to conceive in her 40s. “There’s always hope until there’s not, but when you get to a certain age, that hope looks like it’s 1 percent to 2 percent,” she told the outlet while interviewed at the Odyssey premiere in New York City. “We just decided to see where life took us with a very, very healthy, realistic expectation, which was very low.”

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Stirs Conversations with Personal Egg-Freezing Decision New

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Stirs Conversations with Personal Egg-Freezing Decision

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is revealing a new chapter in her private life as she continues to represent New York City’s 14th congressional district. “Hey everyone, it’s been a minute since I’ve posted to stories, but I think it’s a good time to kind of dive back in again — it’s August recess and I think it’s good for you all to hear a little bit more from me directly,” the congresswoman, 36, said via her Instagram Stories on Saturday, August, 8, adding that she is “having some things happen” in her life that she wants to “share more” with her followers amid her "reflective mood.” “I want to share with you all a decision that is very personal that I have made that has taken me time to consider, weigh and save up for,” she continued, “And it is of a sensitive matter and a personal matter and usually I keep my private life quite private, but I have made the decision to start freezing my eggs.” Ocasio-Cortez, who was 29 when she was sworn into Congress after becoming the youngest woman elected to the House of Representatives in 2018, is currently engaged to her longtime partner Riley Roberts. The congresswoman admitted that her decision to freeze her eggs — one she plans to document for her social media followers — was due, in part, to near-constant speculation she will one-day be a frontrunner for the Democratic nominee for president. “The media will run up and ask a question like, ‘Are you going to run for this? or, ‘Are you going to run for that?’ And it’s almost through this very two-dimensional craven understanding or ambitious understanding of power,” she explained. “When I think a lot of us actually approach these considerations or these decisions through the larger context of our lives as whole human beings and what is happening in our lives as whole human beings.” Ocasio-Cortez — a common target of President Donald Trump and members of the Republican party — also acknowledged that “strangely” there is a “political risk” or potential “political tax” to her candidly sharing her egg-freezing journey. “People don’t go down those rabbit holes and fixate on them for men in terms of their decision the way they do for women,” she added. “And I’m not here to, like, talk about what’s fair or unfair in this context — this is just the world that we live in today, and so I’m aware that just by me choosing to not keep this private there may be a consequence.” She continued, “But you know what, I'm OK with that. This is a choice that I am making to feel more in control of my life and if people want to make assumptions about my decision, let them make those assumptions – I feel empowered to make this choice. I think it’s a very privileged position that I’ve been able to be able to make. And it’s also a result of, I think, changes in technology that have also made it more financially accessible.” The congresswoman went on to reveal that she took her “first shot this morning" and will have to take multiple injections as part of the egg-freezing process on Sunday, August 9, before her scheduled appearance on an ABC morning show. “I’m going to be delivering an interview on national television and it’s in the morning and I have to take my shot because of the timing of it,” she said. “I’m gonna be taking my shots in the green room before my interview. And I want you all to see that because women can do anything, and I think it’s badass that I’m gonna be, you know, giving myself shots in the green room, get my glam on, roll out talk about international events, domestic policy, elections, pop out, live my life, do my thing.” She continued, “If we want community we have to raise our hand and be community for each other, so that’s what we’re going to do.”

Houthi Drone Attack on Saudi Aramco Sparks Regional Tensions New

Houthi Drone Attack on Saudi Aramco Sparks Regional Tensions

The Iran-backed Houthi terrorist group attacked an Aramco oil refinery in Saudi Arabia and a critical Red Sea port on Sunday, killing at least seven people, officials said. A fire broke out at the Aramco refinery in Jazan early Sunday after it was struck by a Houthi drone, claimed Yahya Saree, a military spokesperson for the terrorist group. It was a response to the latest Saudi retaliatory drone attack in the Houthi-controlled provinces of Hajjah and Saada, Saree claimed. Houthi supporters hold a rally with a banner in Arabic reads, “All Saudi oil facilities are targets to our missiles and drones.” AP Photo/Osamah Abdulrahman“The competent authorities are completing the necessary procedures to deal with the incident,” Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Energy said in a statement, adding that no one was injured. The strike on the Aramco refinery coincided with a Houthi missile and drone attack on the Red Sea port of Mokha, which is controlled by the Saudi-backed Yemen government. The attack killed four troops and three civilians, with 15 others injured in the blasts, according to the National Resistance Forces, a Yemeni government-allied force. The airstrikes also left the crucial port wrecked, with severe damage done to its buildings, pier and cargo held at the facility, said Fayed al-Noman, assistant undersecretary of Yemen’s information ministry. The Houthis have repeatedly attacked the Saudi Arabian oil refinery in Jazan. via REUTERSThe Mokha port serves as one of Yemen’s key ports that was recently renovated and used to avoid the Houthi-held docks in Hodeida. The missile and drone strikes in Mokha were also targeting “Saudi enemy” troops and equipment allegedly stationed near the city, the Houthis claimed. The repeated attacks between the Houthis and the Saudi-backed Yemen government threaten to reignite the country’s bloody civil war that came to an end in 2022.The conflict also threatens to ignite a wider war in the region as the Iran-backed terror group seeks to take control of shipping along the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, threatening more of the world’s oil supply. Jared Padalecki Faces Backlash for Supporting Perez Hilton Amid Controversy

Jared Padalecki Faces Backlash for Supporting Perez Hilton Amid Controversy

Jared Padalecki is walking back his public support of Perez Hilton amid his recent hospitalization after receiving criticism online. “I didn’t know. It’s been brought to my attention,” Padalecki, 44, wrote via X on Sunday, August 9. “I’m sorry ❤️.” Hours earlier, the Supernatural alum uploaded a social media message “wishing [Hilton] well” after the celebrity blogger, 48, shared a disturbing livestream in which he engaged in apparent acts of self-harm, prompting authorities to respond to his Miami home. Hilton was admitted to a local hospital on Tuesday, August 4, authorities received multiple 911 calls from fans and family members concerned about the influencer’s wellbeing. He was hospitalized and placed on a 72-hour emergency mental health evaluation as he recovers and seeks treatment — including surgery — for his injuries. Social media users subsequently criticized Padalecki for allegedly supporting Hilton, given the blogger’s past bullying and targeting of various celebrities and their families. Padalecki quietly deleted his message amid the backlash. “To give more detail re: my post wishing someone well. I had ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA about his past,” the actor tweeted in a follow-up message shared on Sunday. “I had heard of him. Obviously. I had heard that he hadn’t exactly ‘been kind’ to me in the past. So, my thought is always to give grace and forgiveness to those who may have tried to ‘harm’ you … in my experience, it usually works out better than holding a grudge or wishing punishment on someone else.” He continued, “That having been said, I TRULY didn’t know ANYTHING about the extent to what he has done. That’s my bad. On my life, I have never in my life, not once, looked him up or gone to one of his sites. I simply thought he was a ‘tabloid’ type of sensationalist journalist.” Padalecki further stressed that he doesn’t “stand for” or support any of Hilton’s past actions. “Full stop. I’m sorry if my words caused any harm,” he stated. “And, I hope you ALL are well out there, and taking care of yourselves.” Hilton has not publicly addressed his hospitalization or disturbing social media video, with his family offering multiple updates on his condition in the interim. “We want to confirm that Perez remains hospitalized under Florida’s Baker Act,” a statement shared Saturday, August 8, via Hilton’s website read. “His communication has been extremely limited and confined to immediate family, medical providers, and others directly involved in his care.” Hilton’s relatives noted that his condition is “serious but stable,” noting that the influencer sustained “significant blood loss” during his livestream. “He experienced significant blood loss and sustained additional injuries that will require surgery in the coming days,” the statement continued. “His treatment and recovery will be a long process. We are grateful that Perez was able to spend time with his mother and sister yesterday. As our family remains focused on Perez’s treatment and recovery, we also need the space and privacy to care for everyone affected by this situation.” If you or someone you know is struggling or in crisis, help is available. Tallulah Willis' Whimsical Wedding Dress Steals the Show in Idaho

Tallulah Willis' Whimsical Wedding Dress Steals the Show in Idaho

Demi Moore and Bruce Willis’ daughter Tallulah Willis is officially a married woman. Tallulah, 32, and her fiancé, Justin Acee, said “I do” during an intimate wedding ceremony held in Sun Valley, Idaho, on Saturday, August 8, according to Vogue. Tallulah, who got engaged to Acee in December 2024, donned a bespoke Balenciaga bridal gown designed by Pierpaolo Piccioli on her special day. “The best part of the dress is the magnitude. It’s the thing that’s getting me to my new husband,” Tallulah told Vogue during her dress fitting. “[Justin and I] made a decision at the very beginning of our relationship that we were going to choose each other every day. My biggest hope [for the dress] was that [it would be] something magical, but magical in a way that was unexpected, kind of like me.” She continued, “I’ve worked very hard to be comfortable in my own skin, to be in something that there’s a strength in is profound for me. I’ve worked so hard in my life to be able to find that beauty every day. This is definitely a very special peak celebration moment of beauty.” To find the perfect dress for the big day, Tallulah entrusted her mom’s longtime stylist, Brad Goreski. “Being able to put together things that I like, and working together with Brad too on that, and walking in the room and seeing all of these things come to life, and then also knowing it was for me, was such a beautiful moment,” Tallulah recalled of the design process. “I’ll never forget that.” As for Goreski, 48, the fashion maven told the outlet that Tallulah wanted a “whimsical and ethereal” gown. Piccioli’s atelier subsequently crafted a strapless, silk column dress with a draped train and a bow adorning the back of the skirt. “[The bow] was something that Pierpaolo wanted,” Tallulah said. “He wanted it to be like a package that was being unwrapped.” In addition, the dress featured a strapless bodice that paid homage to the black Balenciaga frock that Moore, 63, wore to the 2026 Vanity Fair Oscar party. “It was [a] beautiful, black, super simple sheath, but it had that really sculptural Balenciaga [neckline],” Tallulah recalled of her mom’s ensemble from the March red carpet. “When I first tried on the original iteration [of my wedding dress], it was flat across [the neckline], and I just thought, wouldn’t it be so beautiful to have no necklace and nothing up here, but just the shape.” Exes Moore and Bruce, who is currently battling frontotemporal dementia, also share daughters Rumer and Scout. The Die Hard actor also is the father of two younger daughters with his wife, Emma Heming Willis.
