Austin Roest's Heartfelt Role in Girlfriend Milly Okabe's Cancer Battle

NHL prospect Austin Roest and his girlfriend, Milly Okabe, shared a heartbreaking update after she was diagnosed with stage IV cancer.  “They’ve said it’s incurable,” Okabe, 22, exclusively told Us on Tuesday, September 15. “However, I’m starting my treatment already, and I’m going to do everything I can health-wise and just keep fighting.” Okabe announced she was diagnosed with stage IV adenocarcinoma, a type of cancer that starts in the glands that line the organs, earlier this month.  “It was so unexpected,” Okabe recalled to Us. “Austin actually plays a big role in how I found out. I had some flu-like symptoms, so I went to the hospital. They thought it was just the flu, so they sent me home. But Austin looked at me and said, ‘This might be something else. I want you to get looked at further.’” Okabe shared that she and Roest, 22, went to “a couple of doctors who kind of said the same thing.” She was prescribed antibiotics for pneumonia and “lived my life completely fine for six weeks.” “I went back for a follow-up scan, and they saw that the pneumonia hadn’t quite cleared up, so that’s when they got the ball rolling,” Okabe explained. “They were like, ‘OK, let’s get a CT scan. But it’s probably nothing. It’s probably scar tissue from something else.’” She continued, “We do the CT scan, and they found a couple of masses in my lungs and chest. That’s how we found out.” Roest — who was drafted by the Nashville Predators in the sixth round of the 2023 NHL Draft — said his “gut instinct” about Okabe’s initial diagnosis inspired the couple to be proactive about what was really going on.  “When she gets sick, she gets really sick,” he told Us. “Not just normal flu, she’s in bed for quite a long time. That’s kind of what intrigued me to be like, ‘This might be something more than just the flu.’ When we went to the first doctor and he said it was a flu, I knew for sure it wasn’t that.” For now, Okabe said she’s doing her best to “feel good mentally.” “If you asked me a month ago, it probably wouldn’t be the same thing,” she acknowledged. “But I’ve just gotten so much support, it’s hard not to put a smile on my face. Austin has been so selfless and caring and amazing. When he’s off the ice, he’s always texting me like, ‘What can I do for you? Are you OK?’” A GoFundMe organized to support Okabe in her fight has raised nearly $70,000.  “It’s been quite overwhelming with hockey going on and stuff,” said Roest, who is currently participating in the Predators’ training camp. “But I think that’s kind of what’s helping me get through all of this, just seeing all of the support and all of the people reaching out. It’s been really cool.” Okabe said the reach of her story has been surprising “in the best way possible.” “I’ve received messages from people around the world,” she said. “Cancer survivors have reached out and given me advice and so much hope and faith. Everyone has been so kind.”

President Donald Trump is supportive of the Kennedy Center’s renovations — if his name can be added to the landmark. “The Board of The Kennedy Center today agreed, almost unanimously, to close the Building for Safety reasons, and so that it can begin the process of Reconstruction,” Trump, 80, wrote via TruthSocial on Tuesday, September 15. “The closing will take place immediately, however, the Renovation and Reconstruction, which is a very large and complex job, cannot begin until such time as the D.C. Circuit rules on the Board’s approved name.” The commander in chief continued, “If the ruling is a negative one, which it should not be, and is not overturned by the U.S. Supreme Court, the Reconstruction and the Renovation of The Kennedy Center will not take place.” In his latest post, Trump claimed $17 million — that he allegedly raised — has already been put into The Kennedy Center account to keep it afloat. Earlier in the day, U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper explained that Congress would need to approve Trump’s name being added to the Washington, D.C., building first named after John F. Kennedy. “Simply put, Defendants cannot install memorials for President Trump or anyone or anything else at the Kennedy Center without Congress’ blessing,” Cooper said in the latest ruling on Tuesday via the Associated Press. Trump claimed the attorneys from the Department of Justice would be asking for an expedited appeal. The Kennedy Center board first voted in August to inscribe Trump’s name on the building’s facade so it would read “The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts Restored and Renovated By President Donald J. Trump.” If the Trump Kennedy Center Fund reached $100 million, another inscription would be added reading: “Endowed by the Trump Kennedy Center Fund.” Several members of Kennedy’s extended family have spoken out against any name change, including Maria Shriver. “Adding your name to a memorial already named in honor of a great man doesn’t make you a great man. Quite the contrary,” Shriver, 70, wrote via X in December 2025. “Putting your name on top of someone else’s doesn’t mean that people will speak of you in the same breath as the other man. Putting your name above another man’s name on his existing memorial… What is that about? Truly? What’s that about?” Jack Schlossberg, JFK’s only grandson, was also outraged by Trump’s actions. “Trump can take the Kennedy Center for himself. He can change the name, shut the doors, and demolish the building,” Schlossberg, 33, wrote via X in February. “He can try to kill JFK. But JFK is kept alive by us now rising up to remove Donald Trump, bring him to justice, and restore the freedoms generations fought for.”

Sydney Sweeney has lost over 200,000 Instagram followers after she was featured in a controversial sports-betting ad, appearing fully nude to promote the prediction market Novig, per Variety.The “Euphoria” actress shared the 60-second ad on Instagram last week where she poses with various sports equipment, like footballs, basketballs and a soccer ball, to cover parts of her body.By Wednesday morning, Sweeney’s ad post had 1.2 million likes and 2.8 million shares. Florida Woman's Casino Encounters Lead to High-Stakes Rolex Thefts

A Florida woman allegedly seduced and drugged a man she met at a casino in an elaborate ruse to steal his nearly $100,000 Rolex — a crime authorities say she’s committed against several other victims.Lynda Mae Crouse, 32, is accused of preying on deep-pocketed bachelors she meets out, flirtatiously convincing them to take her home or to a hotel and then drugging them and taking off with their high-end watches before they come to, according to Broward County arrest records. The siren was arrested Friday for the April 12 timepiece theft of a man she met at the Carousel Club in Hallandale Beach around midnight. Lynda Mae Crouse, 32, is accused of drugging a man she just met at a casino to steal his nearly $100,000 Rolex, a crime authorities alleged she’s committed before.  BCSOThe pair exchanged contact info before departing the club and the man later sent an Uber to Crouse’s home to bring her back to his place, according to court documents. The two then began to drink. But as the man stepped away to change his clothes, he began to feel “funny” and “extremely tired,” a probable cause affidavit states. The incapacitated victim said the last thing he heard before passing out was a clapping sound coming from his living room and Crouse excusing herself to leave, according to the affidavit. After coming to hours later, the man ran to check on his watch, having suspected that the clapping sound was the woman opening the lid of his Rolex box, the affidavit states. His worst suspicions turned out to be true after he found that his 40 mm diamond-bedazzled Rolex Presidential – valued at $98,4000 – was gone, the document states. The victim later identified Crouse in a photo lineup, according to court documents. The timepiece theft happened after Crouse met a man at the Carousel Club in Hallandale Beach on April 12, with the man sending an Uber to bring her to his home not long after, according to court documents.  Google mapsThe apparent femme fatale has four other open cases in Dade County in which the victims shared a similar experience of taking Crouse home and waking up out of a fog to find their pricey wrist jewelry missing.In one case, a victim’s toxicology report revealed he had been drugged with zolpidem, a sleep aid known to cause rapid sedation, confusion and memory impairment especially when combined with alcohol, NBC Miami reported. Crouse was charged with grand theft and her bond was set at $2,000, which she paid, records show. No attorney information was available. She could not be reached for comment.

WASHINGTON — Senate Democrats grilled FBI boss Kash Patel on whether the bureau hires people who had sex with animals, blasted him as a “thug,” and accused him of being a drunk during an off-the-rails Judiciary Committee hearing.Patel had been summoned before the Senate Judiciary Committee for a routine oversight hearing and came prepared to crow about plummeting crime rates, but Democrats derailed that plan by latching onto a litany of scandals during the explosive confrontation instead.“You have been so drunk that briefings have been rescheduled so you could sleep it off,” Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii) swiped, goading him into taking an alcohol test.Patel, who showed up to the hearing armed with opposition research notes against his Democratic foes, did a double-take upon hearing that and shook his head, but Hirono didn’t give him a chance to respond.The premise of Hirono’s claim stems from a bombshell report in The Atlantic about Patel’s alleged drinking habits, which prompted him to slap a $250 million defamation lawsuit against the outlet. Fueling that narrative was footage of Patel chugging beer with the US men’s Olympic hockey champion team.FBI Director Kash Patel faced an onslaught from Senate Democrats during his appearance before the chamber’s Judiciary Committee. What’s bad are the people enabling him.”Booker, who ran for president in 2020 and has a knack for impassioned screeds at hearings, raged at Republicans for allowing Patel to lash out at Welch as a “complete and total fraud.” He accused Patel of using the FBI’s resources to intimidate journalists.“Like a thug, you’re using your agency to go after reporters in a chill to one of the most sacrosanct ideals of the US,” Booker fumed. “Right now you are stonewalling this committee for asking simple questions of accountability on how you’re using government resources to go after reporters.”The New Jerseyan went minutes over his allotted time but loudly bulldozed his way through attempts to get him to calm down. “Are you ready to shut up?” an agitated Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) grumbled to Booker after venting that “it takes longer to shut them up than it does to let them talk.”Sen. Cory Booker went over his allotted time to scold FBI Director Kash Patel. APPatel’s girlfriend, Alexis Wilkins, 27, a country music star, sat in the audience as her lover dealt with the political punches. Although mostly calm during the proceedings, the occasional jab at his girlfriend seemingly got under his skin and prompted Patel to lash out.Perhaps the most bonkers moment of the tumultuous showdown came when ranking member Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) questioned Patel over the FBI’s loosening of standards in background checks for the hiring of agents. This included more leniency on prostitution and bestiality before the age of 18.“You dropped automatic disqualification for applicants who have engaged in bestiality, not victims of bestiality, applicants who have engaged, do you disagree with that?” Durbin asked. Patel replied, “Applicants who’ve engaged in bestiality means they were victims of bestiality.”That response drew some head-scratching from soundbite savant Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.), who drilled down on the extent to which people who had sex with animals can become agents. “A lot of these cases, when human traffickers, who are some of the worst individuals on planet Earth, they don’t just traffic you for prostitution; they traffic you for degrading acts of all kinds,” Patel explained. “And some of these individuals would go on to be law enforcement officers.”The FBI hancho sought to brag about the bureau’s track record in cracking down hard on crime. REUTERSDurbin had also slammed Patel as the “least qualified and most partisan FBI director in our nation’s history.”Democrats had pressed Patel on an array of other issues as well, including the purge he carried out at the bureau against personnel involved in the Capitol riot and Mar-a-Lago document cases. Sen. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) warned him to preserve those files for when Dems take over Congress.Amid the barrage of tough questions, Patel’s main messaging objective during the proceedings was to highlight the FBI’s various successes in cracking down on crime.He ticked through data about how criminal arrests were up 80%, violent crime arrests up 90%, criminal enterprise arrests are up 30%, 21% more children who suffered from a crime were identified, and 13% more child predators were arrested over the 18 prior months, compared to the situation beforehand. “Mr. Chairman, I’m proud to announce today, and I hate to correct you, we haven’t captured nine of the Top 10 Most [Wanted] individuals on our list. We’ve captured ten,” Patel boasted at one point.“Just this past weekend, this FBI stopped another ISIS-inspired attack in Pittsburgh, arresting an individual before he was able to go out and kill innocent civilians,” he later added.

The Emmys may be television’s biggest night, but not every star delivered an award-winning performance on the red carpet. Fashion Police alum Melissa Rivers opened up to Us about her worst dressed celebrities of the evening, detailing what she really thought of Shailene Woodley and Rachel Sennott’s respective looks at the Monday, September 14, event. “They were both in Balenciaga, and someone over there clearly does not like them,” Rivers quipped to Us. “Because, by the way, Sarah Snook was also in Balenciaga and looked perfect.” (Snook, 38, wore an off-the-shoulder white dress with a column skirt.) The host of “Melissa Rivers' Group Text Podcast” explained that just because an outfit works on the runway, doesn't mean it translates “in real life.” “I see Shailene's look walking down the runway,” Rivers exclusively told Us of her ensemble, which featured a blue top complete with a plunging neckline, gold beaded wide-leg pants and burgundy cloves. Woodley, 34, accessorized with a rainbow stone necklace and wore her brunette hair in a slicked-back ponytail. “It's not for civilians,” Rivers added. “And I think this is very often what becomes a problem,” Rivers, who recently launched her YouTube channel, The Joan Rivers Show, told Us. “By the way, Shailene looked great at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards, where she won. I think what happens is people are like, ‘Oh my God, it's from the runway, it's a massive designer,’ and get so excited to be able to wear that, that they don't take into account how it actually looks on them in person.” Another bunch who didn't make Rivers’ worst dressed list, but didn't wow her either was the Baywatch cast, including Brooks Nader, Jessica Belkin and Hassie Harrison, who all coordinated in cherry red gowns, a nod to their iconic swimsuits. “I could see everyone sitting around going, ‘That's a really clever nod to the show,’ but I felt like when they were all standing together ... It just didn't look good,” Rivers said. “It felt costumey rather than [like a] pretty gown.” Rivers described how sweltering it was on the red carpet during the Los Angeles heat wave, adding, “The sweaty men was the trend nobody wanted.” She also noticed that multiple stars at the event had beards that didn't match their hair. “All these men with dark hair and super gray beard. Kelly Stafford Joins Backlash Against Sydney Sweeney's Naked Sports Ad

Kelly Stafford, the wife of Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, added her voice to the mix after Sydney Sweeney’s recent naked sports betting ad campaign stirred major debate.  Kelly, 37, took to her Instagram Story on Monday, September 14, sharing a video from influencer Daniel Hong, in which he opined about the message that Sweeney’s racy Novig campaign — showing the Euphoria actress fully naked with various sports items covering her body — sends to his two young daughters.  “THIS THIS THIS THIS,” Kelly commented on the clip.  Kelly and Matthew, 38, share four daughters: twins Sawyer and Chandler, 9, Hunter, 8 and Tyler, 6. "Seeing this whole Sydney Sweeney controversy just confirms what I already knew I have to teach my daughters, sooner than later,” Hong said in the video.  Hong added, “My girls are going to grow up in a world where they're going to learn really quick that attention has value, especially for girls. Appearance can get you attention: likes, comments, followers, money, opportunities. All of that is very real. What I want them to understand is that attention and value are not the same thing.” The father of two said his goal is to tell his girls that their “appearance never has to be the main thing that gives them their self-worth.” “I don't think I'm going to teach my daughters that with one conversation when they're 16,” he argued. “Look what I'm up against. I have to start right now.” Kelly has been an open book about the highs and lows of parenting, both on social media and her “The Morning After” podcast, which is currently on hiatus. The Georgia native spoke about the importance of grounding her daughters in religion on a podcast episode in September 2025.  “Living in California, actually living anywhere in the world these days, the world is changing and at this state where I feel like at any moment it could just all blow up in our faces,” she said. “Just to give them the base and the values of Christianity every day, knowing they have something to turn back to if things get hard, I’m very excited about.” Sweeney’s ad campaign for Novig has been met with plenty of backlash, including multiple female athletes who have pushed back at the company’s messaging.  “I wasn’t going to share this as I didn’t want to give this any more attention. But, I can’t keep my mouth shut,” former Australian Olympic swimmer Ariarne Titmus wrote via her Instagram Story on Saturday, September 12. “I can’t describe how infuriated I feel when I watch this.” Titmus, 26, added, “Not only is it a kick in the face to every woman who has dedicated her life to perfecting her craft, but every woman who enjoys sports for what it really is – teamwork, friendship, dedication, excellence, unity…How do we live in a world where monetising a woman’s body and sexualising women’s sport is still a thing?” Former Love Island USA star and paralympic athlete Beatriz Hatz also weighed in on the ad, writing via TikTok, “Actually so disgusted and disappointed in her ad. Idgaf if she getting hella money for that, she’s setting women back so much. Women in sports do not need to be sexualized. We deserve to compete at the peak of our ability and be seen as athletes.” Former UCLA gymnast Gracie Kramer even joined the chat, sharing a video of her competing and wrote, “Idk what Sydney Sweeney was doing, but this is what a woman in sports looks like.” Sweeney, for her part, seemingly addressed the backlash by sharing photos of athletes posing naked during their respective covers for ESPN The Magazine’s Body Issue.

Two prominent business owners have been killed after their boat slammed into a peninsula at high speed before going airborne and crashing into a campsite.Charles Romer, 65, and Jennifer Luzzi, 59, both of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, were pronounced dead following the crash on Lake Havasu on Saturday night.Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Division of Boating Safety deputies responded to the area of Cattail Cove State Park at around 7:08 p.m. Saturday after receiving reports of a boating collision.Jennifer Luzzi is pictured. Facebook/One MotorsportsWhen deputies arrived, they found a 2019 36-foot Douglas Marine boat upside down on land on the Arizona side of the lake, just north of Cattail Cove State Park.The two occupants were found unresponsive near the wreckage.Deputies immediately began performing life-saving measures on the pair, while firefighters from San Bernardino County and Lake Havasu City also responded.Despite the emergency efforts, both Romer and Luzzi were pronounced dead at the scene.Authorities have not released additional details about what caused the boat to strike the peninsula or whether any other factors contributed to the crash.According to the initial press release, the watercraft was traveling at a high rate of speed when it struck the large peninsula, sending the vessel airborne. The boat then continued through the air before landing in a boat-in campsite north of the initial impact, authorities said. Romer was also the original owner of “Dial 911,” a Skater 388 built by Douglas Marine’s Skater Powerboats in 2010. The high-performance catamaran made its debut at the Desert Storm shootout, where Romer and TNT Custom Marine’s John Tomlinson recorded a 157-mph pass.His racing career extended beyond powerboats. Romer competed in sports car racing at the national level and won the Prototype 1 class at the 2022 SCCA National Championship Runoffs at Virginia International Raceway. The company, founded in 1982, serves Mohave, La Paz and Yuma counties and operates warehouses in Kingman and Lake Havasu City.Luzzi was similarly well known around Lake Havasu City, where she had worked in real estate for years. Agass said Romer “fitted more into his lifetime” than he could imagine fitting into five, adding that he would miss their phone calls, meetings at the racetrack and visits in Lake Havasu.“I’m really going to miss our catchup phone calls and meetups at the race track and of course our visits with him at Lake Havasu,” he added. Aaron Rodgers made a shocking claim about his ex-fiancée Shailene Woodley during a dramatic interview about his life both on and off the football field.  “I dated Shailene. I propose and she says yes,” Rodgers, 42, said on the Thursday, September 10, episode of the “Not Just Football” podcast. “Maybe she felt like she was forced to make a decision. She could have said no. But a couple days after that, she tells me, ‘You know, before we get married, I gotta go f*** this guy.’” Rodgers and Woodley, 34, publicly announced their engagement in February 2021. It was confirmed in early 2022 that the couple had split before making it to the altar.  “Her story is that I ruined her life and gave her crazy depression because I left her,” Rodgers continued. “But the actuality is, she told me that and then she took off the ring by March [2021]. I proposed in December [2020]. Took off the ring by March. We had a couple times where we tried to get reunited and nothing ever happened. There wasn’t even a relationship in ‘22 to break off.” The quarterback continued, “She literally told me, ‘I don’t want to be with you’ after we tried to have some kind of reconciliation in 2021. Rodgers sternly urged his “exes” like Woodley and former NASCAR driver Danica Patrick to halt their “narratives.” “It’s been years,” he said. “What are you talking about? You’re not relevant. Live your life.” Rodgers said his exes are “lying about what actually happened,” calling himself “a good partner.” In September 2024, Woodley explained that the dissolution of her relationship with Rodgers had left her with “a broken heart that healed and broke again.” “I fell in love over and over with unavailability,” she told Bustle. “I’m very open as a human.
