Trump's Secret Escape from Turkey: Inside the Bizarre Catering Truck Ruse

President Trump was secretly whisked off Air Force One in an airport catering truck last month and departed Turkey on a separate military flight in response to a threat from Iran, according to a report. The secret mission, reported by the Washington Post on Monday, left journalists and even White House staff believing that they were on the same plane as the president when they departed the annual NATO Summit in Ankara on July 8.But in reality they served as a decoy while Trump traveled in a smaller, Air Force C-32A. The elaborate ruse saw Trump publicly board an older model of Air Force One before being smuggled out in a catering truck that had been lifted up to a door on the opposite side of the entrance to the presidential plane. The catering truck was positioned in front of a door on the opposite side of the entrance to Air Force One. AP Photo/Alex BrandonTrump was accompanied by “several aides” inside the container, which was lowered onto a truck on the tarmac and driven to the nearby Air Force C-32A plane, where the vessel was once again elevated up to a door, apparently allowing Trump and his aides to surreptitiously board the alternate plane.  Like the older model presidential plane, the C-32A was also blue-and-white and emblazoned with the words “United States of America,” according to the Washington Post. War Secretary Pete Hegseth was on the secret flight with Trump but boarded separately, using external stairs in an attempt “to make the flight appear typical,” a US official told the outlet. After departing Ankara, the C-32A carrying Trump landed in Mildenhall Air Force Base in the United Kingdom. The plane arrived about 9 minutes before reporters and White House staff aboard Air Force One landed at the same base. Television cameras and media reports note Trump descended the external stairs from Air Force One about 25 minutes after the plane landed. AFP via Getty ImagesAt the time, speculation swirled as to why the older Air Force One was being used to depart Turkey rather than the newer and more luxurious plane. The White House and Trump denied that the switcheroo was related to a threat from Iran or security concerns with the new plane, which Trump is using as a temporary Air Force One while Boeing finishes work on permanent replacement planes. Once aboard the Qatari-gifted jet, Trump went to the back of the plane and spoke with reporters for several minutes without letting on that he was not on the plane with them for the first-leg of the flight. The secret operation was set in motion due to a “credible” Iranian threat against Trump’s life, a US official told the Washington Post. The official did not elaborate on the exact nature of the threat. Several outlets reported last month that intelligence officials flagged a specific threat against the president, triggering the plane switch. The Wall Street Journal reported that Israel tipped the US off about a potential Iranian assassination plot targeting Trump. Trump was reportedly snuck off Air Force One in a catering truck. AP Photo/Alex BrandonThe White House on Monday night did not deny the report of Trump’s secret flight out of Turkey. When reached for comment about the report, White House communications director Steven Cheung touted the safety of the Qatari-gifted jet. “The new Air Force One is a state-of-the-art aircraft that has been fitted with high-level security protocols that ensure the safety of the President and his staff,” Cheung said in a statement. “As the President has said recently, there are many enemies of America who have their sights on him, and we use every tool at our disposal to address those threats.” The White House also pointed to a statement from the Air Force touting the so-called “palace in the sky” plane. “The aircraft is safe, secure and equipped with the most advanced technologies necessary to meet the requirements of the presidential mission,” read the statement. “Those requirements were carefully crafted to prioritize mission over aesthetics, leaving much of the previous head of state interior layout minimally changed. “No risk was taken in security, safety or mission communications, but the collective team made trades on some of the less commonly used mission sets that Boeing must deliver to support the next 40 years.”

Former New York Giants tight end Jeremy Shockey revealed the candid reason he decided to get a vasectomy at just 21 years old.  “I had no kids, I didn’t want any kids,” Shockey, 45, said on the August 2 episode of the “Club Shay Shay” podcast, adding that he only had “so much space” in his head, meaning his personal life took a backseat to his career.  The ex NFL star said he had the procedure shortly after the Giants selected him with the 14th overall pick in the 2002 NFL Draft. “I didn’t need that emotional support,” Shockey told podcast host and former NFL tight end, Shannon Sharpe, of potentially having a family. “Listen, when we get home from work, what do you want to do? I want to sit in a hyperbaric chamber, I want to do acupuncture and I want to go to sleep. There’s only so many weeks. I had to have a schedule.” He added, “It worked out for me. I always thought in my mind, ‘This person plays the same position as me. He’s got more catches than me. How is he married and he’s got three kids? How’s he juggling everything?’ I can’t do that. I’m a very one-lane guy.” Shockey explained that he received his family/s blessing before obtaining  the vasectomy, including his mother Lucinda’s.  “I told her, ‘Mom, I signed a contract with this team, but I don’t know. They could trade me next year. So if I’m dating a girl here, I don’t need any of this, you know? I just need to be a horse with blinders,’” Jeremy recalled telling her.  Lucinda told Jeremy he had made “a great decision,” adding that her son could “save it in the sperm bank and you’ll be fine.” “My brother had kids, so I wasn’t yearning for that,” Jeremy further explained. During his six seasons with the Giants from 2002 to 2007, Jeremy said he didn’t have a single girlfriend, though he admitted to having a roughly month-long casual fling with model and actress, Vida Guerra, after meeting her on a Sports Illustrated photoshoot.  Jeremy has since had the vasectomy reversed, telling Sharpe, 58, “I want kids.” The ex NFL player was previously married to Daniela Cortazar, but he filed for divorce after eight months of marriage in 2012, saying the relationship was “irretrievably broken.” Following his tenure with the Giants, Jeremy played three seasons with the New Orleans Saints and his final NFL season with the Carolina Panthers in 2011.

Travis Barker can still recall the ominous warning his daughter Alabama Barker gave before he miraculously survived a deadly 2008 plane crash. Travis, 50, explained on the Monday, August 10, episode of the “On Purpose With Jay Shetty” podcast that he nearly skipped the trip after both he and Alabama felt uneasy about the flight. "I'd said to my manager, 'Is it too late to just pull out? I don't really need to do this,'" Travis remembered. "I was just so content with being home with the kiddos, and he's like, 'Bro, you can't cancel this late.' So, I ended up flying out there." At the time, the Blink-182 drummer had three young children at home. (Travis shares son Landon, 22, and daughter Alabama, 20, with ex-wife Shanna Moakler. He is also the stepfather to daughter Atiana De La Hoya, whom Moakler, 51, shares with ex Oscar De La Hoya. Travis and wife Kourtney Kardashian share one child, son Rocky, 2.) Alabama was only 2 years old when she seemingly had a premonition about the tragedy that would unfold on the return flight from his gig. "I say bye to Bama. She's young at the time," Travis shared. "She's like, 'Dad, don't go!' She's bawling and she doesn't usually do that. She's like, 'The roof's gonna come off,' and I'm like, 'What is she talking about?'" Despite his daughter’s haunting words, the musician and pal DJ AM flew to South Carolina to perform with Gavin DeGraw and Jane Addiction singer Perry Farrell. "I get there, play our show, and then we're supposed to leave the next morning," Travis said. "But everyone else that was with me was in a hurry to get home. So, we booked a private plane, super last minute." Travis explained that there are “usually a bunch of hoops to jump through” to book him a plane because he always has a lot of questions. “I was like, 'Who's the pilot? Has the plane been maintenanced?'" he recalled asking. "I want to know everything, and none of that stuff happened.” Travis remembered getting to the airport around 11 p.m. or midnight and it being “foggy” with “one plane in the distance that’s really small.” The whole situation didn’t sit well with the Meet the Barkers alum. "I had an awful feeling," he confessed, revealing he called his dad, Randy Barker, to express his concerns. "My dad was like, 'You're gonna be fine. Just get on the plane. Call me when you get home.'" Ultimately, Travis agreed to take the private plane — even with a nagging feeling in his gut. "I knew something feels off," he revealed. "I even told my dad, 'If something happens to me, please make sure the kids are taken care of.' I was saying way too much. All the signs were there." The plane crashed on their way home to California, killing the two pilots as well as Travis’ assistant Chris Baker and security guard Charles Still Jr. (Investigators later reported that pieces of the plane’s tires broke off and damaged the hydraulic system, resulting in the brakes failing and damage to the thrust reversers, per Billboard.) Travis and DJ AM (real name Adam Goldstein) survived the crash but both sustained serious burn injuries. Travis said his “whole body” caught on fire when he tried to escape the aircraft. "Older me would just say, 'I think I'm not going to get on the plane,'" Travis said on Monday. "Everything was there and I'd never felt like that before." Following the accident, Travis spent six months in the burn center and refused to travel by plane. He flew for the first time since the crash in August 2021 after he began dating Kardashian, 47. DJ AM, meanwhile, died from a drug overdose nearly one year after the deadly accident. He was 36.

Colombian influencer Sofia Murillo has died after she was involved in a helicopter crash in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She was 17. Murillo was with her mother, Wendy Manrique, and her grandmother, Rocio Cubillos, while riding in a four-seat helicopter with local tour agency Voo Rio Panorâmico near scenic outlook Vista Chinesa on Saturday, August 8, before the aircraft reportedly crashed into a wooded area and exploded, according to local outlet g1. The pilot, Alessandro Rocha, also died in the accident. Military personnel were called to the scene, where fire spread throughout the wooded hillside as a result of the crash. “The biggest challenge for the teams right now is access, both to enter and exit the site. The aircraft crashed in a very steep, wooded area with precipitous cliffs, where it is only possible to work using rope techniques and safety equipment,” Lieutenant Colonel Fábio Contreiras told g1 in a statement, translated from Portuguese to English. "When we arrived, in addition to the helicopter, there was also a fire caused by the explosion of the aircraft's fuel. That fire has now been completely extinguished.” The message concluded, “Now, our challenge is to find faster access routes to facilitate the work of the Civil Police and Cenipa forensics teams, as well as the future removal of the bodies. We are working to make this happen as soon as possible, preferably today.” Murillo’s uncle Victor Manrique told the local outlet that he was on vacation in Brazil with the three women, his wife and their 15-year-old daughter prior to the deadly incident. The family had booked a 20-minute scenic helicopter ride to see the Christ the Redeemer statue from the sky, g1 reported. While Murillo, Wendy, and Cubillos boarded the initial flight at 11 a.m. local time on Saturday, the other three family members waited in the hangar for a second aircraft. A lawyer for helicopter company Voo Rio Panorâmico reportedly shared in a statement to the press that it had yet to uncover a cause for the crash. The lawyer added that the company had permits to operate at the time and in the area, the aircraft’s maintenance was up-to-date and the pilot was licensed to fly, per g1. Rio de Janeiro’s Civil Police and Brazilian Air Force have reportedly opened investigations into the incident, per CNN Brasil. Murillo, who had more than 200,000 TikTok followers, was known for sharing her beauty tips online. Her last post on the platform was seemingly shared on Wednesday, August 5, showing her at the gym. The comments section of the video has since featured tributes to Murillo. “Rest in peace angel ��,” one user wrote, translated to English, while another added, “I'm going to miss your tips, Sofi. You were one of the few who managed to boost my self-esteem with your advice. I'm going to miss you so much ��.”

However, when the boat got into trouble , it was rescued by a much smaller ship. Now, Zuckerberg's representatives have spoken out against the allegations. What Mark Zuckerberg's response to the megayacht claims? Representatives of the billionaire said that he was not onboard the craft, called The Launchpad, at the time of the incident. Zuckerberg's spokesperson Brian Baker said that the distress call made from the skiff was broadcast on a different radio channel to the one being used on the Launchpad at the time it ran out of fuel. He added that by the time the Launchpad's crew had seen the broadcast, another boat was already responding and on its way to help. The skiff was eventually rescued by the Wilderness Legacy, a cruise ship operated by UnCruise Adventures. A litter to the Alaska Beacon from Baker read: "Mark and his family were not on board at the time of the incident. "As the Coast Guard noted, the boat was not in distress, and by the time the crew reviewed the Coast Guard contact on a different radio channel from the one they were operating on, the assist was already underway. We’re grateful all parties are safe." The user, called Michael Love, claimed that "our boat rescued a stranded vessel last night and apparently we did that after the Coast Guard radioed Mark Zuckerberg’s yacht, which was closer, and they repeatedly refused to respond." According to the Alaska Beacon, vessel-tracking data showed the cruise ship had manoeuvred around the yacht before towing the skiff to Farragut Bay. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is breaking down the costs associated with freezing her eggs after revealing she’s taking control of her reproductive future. “Cutting straight to the chase, this was one of the things that was most stressful for me, as well, when I was considering doing this — is cost,” the congresswoman, 36, said in a video shared via her Instagram Stories on Sunday, August 9. “My insurance does not cover one penny of this. It is 100 percent out of pocket. It doesn’t go to my deductible — nothing. It covers nothing.” On Saturday, August 8, the Democrat representing New York City’s 14th congressional district revealed she had made the personal decision to freeze her eggs amid ongoing speculation she may one day be a frontrunner for the Democratic nominee for president. “I want to share with you all a decision that is very personal that I have made that has taken me time to consider, weigh and save up for,” she said in a video also shared via her Instagram Stories. “And it is of a sensitive matter and a personal matter and usually I keep my private life quite private, but I have made the decision to start freezing my eggs.” Ocasio-Cortez went on to break down her personal cost of the procedure, noting that it can vary depending on a variety of factors including the clinic type, where the patient lives, medication needed and insurance costs for those who can obtain coverage. “So, there are two main sources of costs,” she explained in her Sunday upload. “So you don’t just, like, pay one lump sum to the doctor — you pay for the medicine and then you also pay your clinic and for the procedure. So there’s two costs of it. Some places are very expensive — I am going to a place in New York City that specifically designs options for women who don’t have insurance covering it.” She added, “So the grand total personally, for me, all in, is going to be probably between $8,000 and $9,000.” Earlier on Sunday, Ocasio-Cortez made an appearance on ABC’s This Week, telling host Jonathan Karl why she decided to go public — and document the experience for her millions of social media followers — about her decision to freeze her eggs. “I think, um, it’s important for us to normalize these conversations, especially in this political environment,” she said. “This [Donald Trump] administration is denying reproductive care to women across the country, from abortion rights to the ability to carry out a healthy pregnancy. I think it’s important for us as leaders to have these conversations and share these processes, especially for working women across the country, and normalize them.” Currently, the United States is the only industrialized nation that does not mandate paid family leave, per the Pew Research Center. The country also has the worst maternal mortality rate of any developed nation — a rate that has only risen after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v Wade, which granted pregnant people the Constitutional right to abortion access. States that have banned or severely restricted access to abortion have higher and rising rates of maternal and infant death, according to various studies. Intensive investigative reporting from various outlets has indicated that at least 12 pregnant women have died since Roe v Wade was overturned.

Anne Hathaway’s maternity wardrobe continues to dazzle. Rocking a powder-blue high-neck top at the world premiere of her new film The End of Oak Street in California on Sunday, August 9, the pregnant star, 43, flashed her bump as it popped atop a pair of low-slung jeans. Positively radiant, Hathaway paired the top, which featured a long train and was lined with a red interior, with a red pop lip and red pointed heels. She wore her long dark mane back in a high ponytail that showed off drop earrings to create subtle sparkle, too. Hathaway’s newest maternity look, which continues on from a series of beautiful ensembles sported while promoting The Odyssey, comes after she subtly flashed her bump while attending a recording of SiriusXM's Andy Cohen Live in New York City less than one month ago. The July 16 outing saw the actress pair another top that fell with a trail behind her as the front of the garment cut just above her navel. Hathaway, who is expecting her third child with husband Adam Shulman, announced her pregnancy via a sweet Instagram video on June 19. (Hathaway and Shulman, 45, are already parents to sons Jonathan, 10, and Jack, 6.) In the clip, which was captioned “x Baby I’m yours,” the Devil Wears Prada star walked into the camera frame before shifting her hands to reveal a growing bump. She then flashed a warm smile before jolting away from the camera. During a July 14 appearance on the Late Night With Seth Meyers show, Hathaway confessed that she was surprised to learn that she was pregnant with her third child. “We knew what we were doing but … we were so shocked it went this way,” she said at the time, adding that she and Shulman were “calling this one our buzzer-beater,” referring to a basketball shot that succeeds right before the final buzzer. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is revealing a new chapter in her private life as she continues to represent New York City’s 14th congressional district. “Hey everyone, it’s been a minute since I’ve posted to stories, but I think it’s a good time to kind of dive back in again — it’s August recess and I think it’s good for you all to hear a little bit more from me directly,” the congresswoman, 36, said via her Instagram Stories on Saturday, August, 8, adding that she is “having some things happen” in her life that she wants to “share more” with her followers amid her "reflective mood.” “I want to share with you all a decision that is very personal that I have made that has taken me time to consider, weigh and save up for,” she continued, “And it is of a sensitive matter and a personal matter and usually I keep my private life quite private, but I have made the decision to start freezing my eggs.” Ocasio-Cortez, who was 29 when she was sworn into Congress after becoming the youngest woman elected to the House of Representatives in 2018, is currently engaged to her longtime partner Riley Roberts. The congresswoman admitted that her decision to freeze her eggs — one she plans to document for her social media followers — was due, in part, to near-constant speculation she will one-day be a frontrunner for the Democratic nominee for president. “The media will run up and ask a question like, ‘Are you going to run for this? or, ‘Are you going to run for that?’ And it’s almost through this very two-dimensional craven understanding or ambitious understanding of power,” she explained. “When I think a lot of us actually approach these considerations or these decisions through the larger context of our lives as whole human beings and what is happening in our lives as whole human beings.” Ocasio-Cortez — a common target of President Donald Trump and members of the Republican party — also acknowledged that “strangely” there is a “political risk” or potential “political tax” to her candidly sharing her egg-freezing journey. “People don’t go down those rabbit holes and fixate on them for men in terms of their decision the way they do for women,” she added. “And I’m not here to, like, talk about what’s fair or unfair in this context — this is just the world that we live in today, and so I’m aware that just by me choosing to not keep this private there may be a consequence.” She continued, “But you know what, I'm OK with that. This is a choice that I am making to feel more in control of my life and if people want to make assumptions about my decision, let them make those assumptions – I feel empowered to make this choice. I think it’s a very privileged position that I’ve been able to be able to make. And it’s also a result of, I think, changes in technology that have also made it more financially accessible.” The congresswoman went on to reveal that she took her “first shot this morning" and will have to take multiple injections as part of the egg-freezing process on Sunday, August 9, before her scheduled appearance on an ABC morning show. “I’m going to be delivering an interview on national television and it’s in the morning and I have to take my shot because of the timing of it,” she said. “I’m gonna be taking my shots in the green room before my interview. And I want you all to see that because women can do anything, and I think it’s badass that I’m gonna be, you know, giving myself shots in the green room, get my glam on, roll out talk about international events, domestic policy, elections, pop out, live my life, do my thing.” She continued, “If we want community we have to raise our hand and be community for each other, so that’s what we’re going to do.”
