Jamie Lynn Spears Opens Up After 'Sweet Magnolias' Cancellation

Jamie Lynn Spears is speaking out after the shocking cancellation of Netflix’s hit dramedy Sweet Magnolias. “I can’t put into words how much the people who make up our Sweet Mags family mean to me, and that’s not just the producers, cast, crew & @Netflix who are like actual family at this point, but also each of you who watched and became a part of our family as well,” Spears, 35, wrote via Instagram on Sunday, September 20. “It’s so rare to have five seasons straight be #1 around the whole world, in a business where getting a 2nd season of anything is almost impossible these days.” Netflix announced on Friday, September 18, that Sweet Magnolias was canceled and there would not be a sixth season of the show. Spears, for her part, starred as Noreen, a nurse new to Serenity, South Carolina, who has an affair with her boss, Dr. Bill Townsend (Chris Klein). Before Noreen and Bill welcomed their daughter, Rebecca, the town pediatrician divorced wife Maddie Townsend (Joanna Garcia Swisher). Noreen and Maddie eventually bonded after Bill’s death, each also finding new love interests. Sweet Magnolias was Spears’ return to Hollywood after taking a break from the cameras to focus on raising her children. (Spears shares daughter Maddie, 18, with ex Casey Aldridge and daughter Ivey, 8, with husband Jamie Watson.) “Maddie was in middle school and Ivey was a little baby, still breast-feeding when the producers were just crazy enough to give this insecure but hopeful young mama a chance,” Spears recalled on Sunday of being cast on Sweet Magnolias season 1. “Little did they know they were actually giving a part of myself ‘life’ again, a part of myself I desperately needed and it healed me in ways that allowed me to grow as an actress, but most importantly as a person and a mother.” She continued, “I was given the gift of being able to provide for my family, doing something I was proud of, surrounded by people I respected and loved while creating something we all valued. I owe it all to each and every person who loved Serenity, and the people who made it what it was.” The Zoey 101 alum further thanked the show creators and fans alike for allowing her to “be a part of this magical family.” “That’s something that will never end ����,” Spears concluded. Spears’ remarks particularly hit home for costars, including Garcia Swisher, 47. “I love you so much,” the Reba alum replied in the comments section. “You’re a gift! And forever my family.” All five seasons of Sweet Magnolias are currently streaming on Netflix.

College GameDay cohost Pat McAfee was momentarily speechless on live TV when Ole Miss fans made their feelings about former coach Lane Kiffin all too clear. “Whatever you think about today, you can’t help but…,” McAfee, 39, trailed off on ESPN’s coverage as Ole Miss supporters began chanting “F*** Lane Kiffin” on Saturday, September 19. With the booming chants getting louder, McAfee quipped, “OK … that wasn’t what I was thinking! It’s certainly what a lot of them are thinking!” Saturday’s college football game between Ole Miss and LSU at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in Oxford, Mississippi, marked the first time Kiffin, 51, returned to the venue since he left his head coaching job to lead the LSU Tigers. “Lane Kiffin, he hopped in a truck and went right down to Baton Rouge. Now, he hopped in a couple trucks to head right back here to Oxford,” McAfee joked on College GameDay. The coach announced his departure from Oxford in November 2025 after leading the Rebels to an 11-1 regular season. At the time, Ole Miss was preparing for its first College Football Playoff appearance. “After a lot of prayer and time spent with family, I made the difficult decision to accept the head coaching position at LSU,” Kiffin announced last November. Kiffin said that he’d hoped to “complete a historic six season run” with Ole Miss through the playoffs so he could honor “the team's incredible success and their commitment to finish strong.” “My request to do so was denied by [athletic director] Keith Carter despite the team also asking him to allow me to keep coaching them so they could better maintain their high level of performance,” he added. In the aftermath of his Ole Miss exit, Kiffin told ESPN in July that he regretted the way his move to LSU was handled. “I think that's a good thing that I look at life that way now, instead of saying, 'No, I don't. I was right,’” he argued. “I look at things always now, like, how could I have done them better? But it's also easier when you're further removed. There's no emotion involved.” Tensions are still running high on the Ole Miss campus, with Kiffin telling reporters that there were “real safety issues and stuff” ahead of Saturday’s game. “There’s people that have a plan for that, it is what it is,” Kiffin said in a press conference on Monday, September 14. “But I told the players today, you don’t have anything to worry about as far as attention on you all week. So that’s what kind of makes this all even more upsetting,” Landry, 21, explained via TikTok on Wednesday, September 16. “I opened my phone this morning to pictures of banners on houses around Oxford posted on different accounts saying really inappropriate things about me and with somebody that genuinely I have never met in my life, which makes it even more frustrating to say the least.” She pointed out that “turning a girl into the punch line of a sexual joke” should never be acceptable. “I understand emotions are high this week and people are upset, but I am my own person,” she told viewers. “I’ll just never understand how someone can feel good about themselves putting such vulgar things about a girl on a giant banner hanging from their house. I feel like that’s really mind-blowing to me. I just hope people realize there is an actual person behind the jokes that they make.”

Lauren Boebert's Fiery Response to Explosive Ethics Allegations

Rep. Lauren Boebert is firing back over a House Ethics Committee complaint alleging that she had sex with three current and former staffers. “Congresswoman Lauren Boebert rejects these allegations as utterly false and there is no truth to them whatsoever,” a spokesperson for Boebert, 39, told Us on Saturday, September 16. “This is nothing more than a politically motivated stunt designed to manipulate the ethics process, create headlines, smear her, and generate clickbait.” The Colorado representative’s office spoke out following American Muckrakers’ David Wheeler submitting a sworn statement about her alleged misconduct with three staffers — two female and one male — to the House Committee on Ethics earlier this week, reports The Colorado Times Recorder. The complaint alleges that Boebert previously arranged a $200,000 hush money payment to prevent one staffer from filing their own ethics complaint. “[These accusations] come from an activist who has long recycled sensational claims, including numerous baseless accusations previously fact-checked as false,” Boebert’s rep said. Wheeler and Boebert have had a long-running feud that dates back over four years and has involved multiple threats of legal action. Us has reached out to Rep. Boebert’s office for comment. The ethics complaint against Boebert could carry serious consequences as the House Code of Official Conduct strictly prohibits representatives from having intimate or sexual relationships with staff who work directly under them in their offices or on committees. In September 2023, Boebert — an outspoken ally of President Donald Trump — publicly apologized over reports that she and a companion were thrown out of Denver’s Buell Theatre during a performance of Beetlejuice The Musical. The prominent Republican politician initially denied accusations that she and her companion were vaping and groping one another during the performance — though she later conceded she’d acted inappropriately, in part, because of the trauma of her then-pending divorce from ex Jayson Boebert, per CPR News. “The past few days have been difficult and humbling, and I'm truly sorry for the unwanted attention my Sunday evening in Denver has brought to the community,” she wrote at the time. “There's no perfect blueprint for going through a public and difficult divorce, which over the past few months has made for a challenging personal time for me and my entire family.” Her statement concluded, “I've tried to handle it with strength and grace as best I can, but I simply fell short of my values on Sunday. That's unacceptable and I'm sorry.” More recently, Boebert appeared to poke fun at former House colleagues Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-California) and Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-Texas) resigning due to separate sex scandals earlier this year. “Like, I mean, why is everybody so horny here?” Boebert asked reporters on the steps of Capitol Hill in April. Speaking to Nexstar D.C. correspondent Vinay Simlot, Boebert recommended that troubled colleagues should “go to church [and] find Jesus.” Boebert has represented Colorado’s fourth district since January 2025, having previously served the state’s third congressional district.

During President Biden’s re-election campaign, I helped to spearhead Asian-American fundraising. In gratitude for my tireless efforts, the party exploited me as a racial caricature.At a February 2024 fundraiser for Joe Biden, Shekar Narasimhan, the chair of the Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders Victory Fund, posed a “question” to then-President Biden. In reality, the question was actually a sycophantic compliment so servile that I felt secondhand embarrassment. It went along the lines of this: Mr. President, your reign has been so successful, and your accomplishments legion. Tell us, leader, which triumph fills you with the greatest pride?Such questions were run of the mill at DNC-sanctioned events. They were never genuine inquiries but opportunities to kiss the ring and curry favor with Biden and his staffers who conferred political favors and White House invitations upon palace courtiers. United States President Joe Biden and first lady Dr. Jill Biden host a Lunar New Year Reception at the White House in January 2023. ZUMAPRESS.comFlattery and favor-trading are the currency of identity-based organizations, which thrive on access like parasites on a host. Groups such as Black Lives Matter, the NAACP, Latino Victory Fund, Planned Parenthood, Human Rights Campaign and Shekar’s AAPI Victory Fund prioritize enriching their leaders over advancing their stated goals. In exchange for donations, politicians deliver access and photo ops. This sustains the identity-group executives’ lavish lifestyles. Meanwhile, the communities they claim to champion remain unchanged or worse off.Consider Bel Leong-Hong, AAPI Victory Fund’s co-founder. I have lost count of the times she has solicited me for money for some pointless event. These events are dressed as philanthropy and priced according to the donor’s desperation for access — $100,000 for a fleeting brush with presidential power, $10,000 for the precarious possibility of an invite to the Veep’s dinner party. The realistic prospect of positive impact is an afterthought. Politics has always been pay-to-play. But Democrats have made it their whole ecosystem. Every organism — consultant, professional outrage merchant, corporate DEI officer — feeds on the same minority carcass while pretending to heal it.Democrats have draped the ancient hustle for money in the garment of justice. Their victims are the very people Dems deem the most marginalized: minorities, LGBTQIA+ communities, first-generation Americans. Everyone except white men, who were deliberately left out. By carving society into ever-narrower identity silos, progressives transformed diversity from a strength into a hammer that would shatter communities. Then they monetized it.Strip away the Democrats’ performative empathy, and the transaction remains as old as Tammany, as cynical as Andrew Jackson’s spoils system. The same Democratic lineage that once rewarded loyalists with public offices now rewards them with consulting contracts, DEI sinecures and virtue-laundered donor dollars. Only the costume has changed.I know this, because the DNC imprisoned me in a racial silo of my own. They placed me on the DNC Ethnic Council in 2016 and unsuccessfully tried to recruit me for the AAPI Caucus. They subjected me to the very racial profiling they profess to abhor. I was rammed into a fundraising group with others who shared none of my concerns. Our only link was that we had vague ancestral origins in the Eastern Hemisphere. My worldview could not have been more different from theirs, yet the party only saw pigment and provenance.In May 2024, I cohosted a Biden fundraiser at the Mayflower Hotel. I wanted this to be a serious, thoughtful affair. Imagine my surprise when a fleet of Chinese lion dancers suddenly took the stage and began undulating for the crowd. The woke brigade had completely blindsided us.If I had been asked, I would have told the Dems that these dancers did not represent me or my fellow Asian Americans. I grew up dancing to Britney Spears and the Backstreet Boys, not vibrating lions. But the DNC sees only racial caricatures and reduced me to the faux multiculturalism they shoved down everyone’s throats.
