Why Brody Jenner's New Baby Is Making Headlines

Why Brody Jenner's New Baby Is Making Headlines

Brody Jenner’s mom, Linda Thompson, is celebrating the arrival of another granddaughter. “Another precious angel has entered the world and her name is Dolly!” the proud grandma, 76, wrote via Instagram on Saturday, September 26, shortly after her son, 43, announced his infant daughter’s arrival. “Honey is already the best big sister… So loving and protective of her little sibling,” Thompson continued. “Dolly Jane was born on international world peace day, September 21! Her gorgeous mama @tiablanco powered through her pregnancy and giving birth like the champion she is! Looking like a supermodel, even moments after giving birth! What a woman @brodyjenner was with her throughout it all..giving her love and comfort. As a good man should be!” Thompson continued, “I am so grateful to God and all the powers that be to welcome another precious grandchild into the world. I am already so deeply in love with little Dolly Jane Jenner. Thank you to everyone for our wonderful hearts and your good wishes for our family. You are acknowledged and appreciated more than you know.” Earlier on Saturday, Jenner announced his infant daughter’s arrival, sharing some insight into his wife Tia Blanco's labor and delivery experience. “We welcomed our precious Dolly Jane Jenner on International World Peace Day 9/21/26,” Jenner, 43, wrote via Instagram. “Mama & baby are in perfect health after an intense but quick unmedicated labor.” https://www.instagram.com/p/Ddw3x3QEvzU/?stkn=ZnE5c3UzdG15ZGZ4 Jenner continued in the caption, addressing his wife specifically, “Tia, I’m so proud of you. Watching you become a mom all over again reminded me just how amazing you are. Our family is everything to me, and seeing it grow from 3 to 4 is a feeling I’ll never forget.” Jenner and Blanco announced that she was pregnant and expecting their second baby back in March. (The pair are already parents to daughter Honey, who was born in July 2023 — two years before the couple said “I do” in July 2025 after three years of dating.) “Our little Honey is going to be a big sister this September ♥️,” they captioned their joint Instagram post at the time, announcing Blanco’s pregnancy alongside a photo showing Jenner, Blanco and Honey standing on a beach as he held up a series of ultrasound images while locking lips with his wife and as their daughter kissed her mom’s pregnant belly. In addition to her own celebratory post, Thompson also commented on her son’s Instagram upload announcing that his baby girl was now Earth-side. “I can hardly wait to hold another little baby Jenner in my arms!” she wrote in the comments section. “I’m so happy for you, Tia and Honey!! Such a blessing and I’m so grateful! I love my family and measurably … .”

Anne Hathaway's Hot Ones Dream Paused Due to Surprising Pregnancy Twist

Anne Hathaway's Hot Ones Dream Paused Due to Surprising Pregnancy Twist

For Anne Hathaway, life doesn’t always imitate art. “Alex Cooper and ‘Call Her Daddy’ was scripted, and then I just, in a production meeting said, ‘Is that enough to establish Verity as an iconic cultural figure?’” Hathaway, 43, said during a Friday, September 25, appearance on the “Talk Of The Townsends” podcast, discussing her role in the upcoming film Verity. “[I thought] if we could do something, like, get a Gayle King interview and Hot Ones that would be, like, the triple crown trifecta.” Verity, based on Colleen Hoover’s bestselling thriller novel of the same name, follows a struggling writer Lowen Ashleigh (Dakota Johnson), who is hired to finish renewed author Verity Crawford’s unpublished book (Hathaway) after she was paralyzed in a car accident. In the movie, Hathaway’s character is interviewed by podcast host Cooper, 32, and was grilled by Sean Evans while eating spicy chicken wings, respectively. “I’ve never done it before. I’ve never done the 10-piece gauntlet,” Hathaway noted of the real-life interview show, in which celebrities take a bite of wings covered in progressively hotter sauces. “You don’t want your first kiss ever in your life to be, like, an onscreen kiss, you want that to be a real thing where you’re not playing a character at the same time as experiencing something physically.” The Oscar winner had tried to adopt the same mindset during her fictional Hot Ones cameo. “I did the first three wings for real, and then I switched into dummy wings,” she quipped on Friday. “I thought that I was gonna be able to do the Hot Ones challenge to do press for this film because it just made sense. But then, I got pregnant.” Hathaway and her husband, Adam Shulman, announced in June that they are expecting their third baby. (The couple already share sons Jonathan, 10, and Jack, 6.) Due to her pregnancy, Hathaway’s doctors advised her against tackling Evans’ infamous hot wings challenge. “My doctor said I couldn’t do it because I might go into early labor,” she said, laughing. “So, I still haven’t done the gauntlet yet. I’m not sure when that’s going to happen. Maybe next year.” Despite her pregnancy putting her Hot Ones dream on the back burner, Hathaway has embraced her journey with pure gratitude given her age and past fertility challenges. “There’s always hope until there’s not, but when you get to a certain age, that hope looks like it’s 1 percent to 2 percent,” she told Access Hollywood in July. “We just decided to see where life took us with a very, very healthy, realistic expectation, which was very low.” She continued at the time, “We’re overjoyed because we just know from personal experience that not everybody gets this, and certainly not when you want it — sometimes not ever. It’s a blessing that we do not take for granted.” Verity hits theaters Friday, October 2.

Brody Jenner Emotionally Welcomes Second Baby with Tia Blanco

Brody Jenner Emotionally Welcomes Second Baby with Tia Blanco

Brody Jenner and wife Tia Blanco’s family has grown with the arrival of the couple’s second baby. "We welcomed our precious Dolly Jane Jenner on International World Peace Day 9/21/26," Jenner, 43, wrote via Instagram on Saturday, September 26, announcing his infant daughter's birth. "Mama & baby are in perfect health after an intense but quick unmedicated labor." Addressing his wife, Jenner added, "Tia, I’m so proud of you. Watching you become a mom all over again reminded me just how amazing you are. Our family is everything to me, and seeing it grow from 3 to 4 is a feeling I’ll never forget." Jenner and Blanco are already parents of daughter Honey, who was born in July 2023. The pair went on to tie the knot in July 2025 after three years of dating. In March, Jenner and Blanco announced that she was pregnant and expecting their second baby. “Our little Honey is going to be a big sister this September ♥️,” they captioned their joint Instagram post at the time. The accompanying photo showed Jenner, Blanco and Honey standing on a beach as he held up sonogram images and locked lips with his wife and their daughter kissed her mom’s pregnant belly. Brody’s famous family sent well-wishes in the comments section at the time. His former stepsisters Kim Kardashian and Khloé Kardashian replied, “❤️,” and, “Awwwww I am so so happy for you guys!!!!!! ,” respectively. His sister Kylie Jenner responded, “,” while brother Brandon Jenner chimed in, “Wooohooooo!!!! ❤️.” Brody’s mom, Linda Thompson, wrote, “I can hardly wait to hold another little baby Jenner in my arms! I’m so happy for you, Tia and Honey!! Such a blessing and I’m so grateful! I love my family and measurably … .” Later that month, Blanco offered an update on her health amid her second pregnancy. “Fourteen weeks and finally in the second trimester!” she shared via Instagram in March. “First trimester was no joke and way harder this time around but feeling grateful and so excited to be growing another life ✨.” Shortly after Honey’s birth, Brody opened up about how his experience of having Caitlyn Jenner as a parent influenced his approach to fatherhood. “I think that what I’m most excited about [being a dad] is doing things differently than my father did. Growing up I didn’t have the greatest relationship with then-Bruce,” Brody said in an August 2023 YouTube video. “[Caitlyn] wasn’t really around for me growing up. So I think that just doing the exact opposite, being the absolute best father I could possibly be and getting ready for the journey and just so very excited.” Brody added that he wanted to “be there for all these incredible moments” in his daughter’s life, noting that he and Blanco were “thrilled” to become parents and insisting his now-wife would be the “best mom.” “To be totally honest here, I didn’t really know if I could really have kids. I just had no idea,” he revealed. “Going into this relationship, Tia was the absolute perfect person. She is my better half. She is the most incredible woman I’ve ever met in my entire life, and I think the universe does things the way it’s supposed to.”

Dakota Johnson's Bold Move to Keep Her Private Life Private

Dakota Johnson's Bold Move to Keep Her Private Life Private

Dakota Johnson admittedly has no interest in publicly addressing certain aspects about her life. “Even if I go to dinner with my manager or my lawyer, it's like, ‘Seen with mystery man.’ I also don't care,” Johnson, 36, said during the Friday, September 25, episode of Vogue’s “The Run-Through” podcast, stressing that she doesn’t try to correct certain false narratives. “I think it's just, kind of, futile.” She continued, “People are gonna believe what they wanna believe, and I don't have the energy to fight for that. I would much rather focus on other things in my life. Every day, there's something on the internet that's ridiculous and true or not true, and I don't care, like, get a life.” In an effort to maintain her privacy, Johnson admitted to taking a purposeful step back from social media. “Maybe when I was in my younger 20s, I had a moment of being on social media just for fun and laughs 'cause I love a clever thing,” she said. “But, I just don't f*** with it. … I feel really uncomfortable with the constant documenting of people's lives.” In her personal life, Johnson recently sparked a romance with Machine Gun Kelly after they connected at their mutual friends Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s star-studded wedding this summer. “They are seriously dating and their relationship has moved quickly,” a source exclusively told Us earlier this week. “There was an instant spark and they have been keeping in touch, talking and FaceTiming every day for the last month.” As Us previously reported, Johnson and MGK, 36, enjoyed a low-key date night at Swift’s apartment in New York City earlier in September. The Verity actress later cheered on MGK when he walked in the Vogue World: Milano fashion show on Tuesday, September 22. “Everyone knew this was actually serious when Dakota traveled to support Colson in Milan,” the insider told Us, referring to MGK’s real name, Colson Baker. “Dakota has a thing for musicians and is a hopeless romantic. Colson has this charm about him, which she was drawn to and she is really into him.” Per the source, Johnson is already “completely smitten” by the Lost Americana musician. “Dakota really wants to settle down and start a family,” the insider added. “They are having a lot of fun right now, getting to know each other.” The source further noted that Johnson, who has been candid about her eventual hopes to become a parent, has yet to meet MGK’s daughters Casie, 17, and Saga, 17 months. (MGK shares Casie with Emma Cannon and Saga with Megan Fox.)

A deaf dog who was surrendered as a puppy is now preparing to deploy with the Michigan National Guard.Axel, a 3-year-old Dogo Argentino, who knows over 50 commands, including some in sign language, serves as the 1st Battalion, 125th Infantry Regiment’s ministry dog — and has spent countless hours training for his upcoming deployment. The committed canine works alongside soldiers on the field or in their Humvees — in his own uniform, a vest and collar made specifically for his ministry duties.Axel, a member of the 1st Battalion, 125th Infantry Regiment, is preparing for deployment. National Guard“When he sees those, he knows he is going to drill,” his handler, Sgt. Mollie Karazim said.Axel, who was born deaf, was brought to a shelter after his original owners realized he couldn’t hear.Karazim, a religious affairs specialist with the Michigan National Guard, adopted floppy-eared Axel as a puppy and immediately knew he would be the perfect pup to train as a ministry dog.“Axel is loyal, loving and made for an active lifestyle, so I thought he would be a good fit for the infantry. When I first adopted him, I began training him but with the understanding that I would have to wait and see if he would integrate well with the unit when he grew up,” Karazim continued. Karazim, whose role entails working with chaplains to support hundreds of soldiers from multiple companies, came up with a system of visual cues and hand signals to communicate with her four-legged companion. “It (training a deaf dog) is very different from a dog who can hear,” she told the National Guard.“He has to trust me, and we have built that trust from a puppy.”Sgt. Mollie Karazim adopted Axel, who was born deaf, as a puppy. USA TODAY Network via Reuters ConnectShe trained Axel for years before he became a battalion member.“I would slowly bring him to unit events to see how he would respond,” Karazim said. “He did great. My command team has been outstanding about having Axel in the unit and seeing the value of him.”Although at first, the fur baby needed to prove to leadership he could commit to the job and be a good boy during drill weekends.“Their question was, ‘What are you going to do? Will he be able to be in the field?’” Karazim said. “I said, ‘Yes, of course. What else?’”Karazim trained Axel for years before he became a battalion member. USA TODAY Network via Reuters ConnectOftentimes, Karazim meets with soldiers during counseling and says Axel helps lighten the mood.“Having Axel in the infantry has been a huge benefit,” Karazim said. “He is an icebreaker, and he has helped me connect with Soldiers I otherwise would not have connected with.”Ironically, when Karazim first joined the National Guard, “I originally wanted to be a canine handler, but then I learned that was not a role available in Michigan,” she said.“As I explored different options, religious affairs specialist seemed like the next best fit.”She spent tireless hours training Axel for deployment, but said it was all worth it.“This whole experience has been incredibly rewarding,” she said. “Axel has been a great asset to the ministry and has helped make everyone light up.”The National Guard posted about Axel’s deployment on its Facebook and Instagram pages on Friday, and commenters cheered him on.“Keep the troops in line Sarge!” one wrote, alongside the American flag emoji. “Can we send care packages?” another asked “God bless our Troops, including the furry ones,” someone else added.

Why Rhiannan Iffland's Waterslide Stunt is Sparking Controversy

Why Rhiannan Iffland's Waterslide Stunt is Sparking Controversy

A controversial waterslide that advises that only men should go down it was taken on by a female diver. It seems bizarre that in this day and age, there are things that men can do that women can't, but this one might come with a good reason. Some waterslides come with genuine health risks. Credit: Henrik Sorensen/Getty The slide, part of the extreme activities lineup at Area 47 - known for bungee jumping, canyoning, white-water rafting, and Europe’s "fastest waterslide" - reaches speeds up to 80 km/h (50 mph). The park’s sign warns women against using this slide, cautioning against potentially harmful side effects that can occur as high-pressure water impacts the body during the rapid descent. Some waterslides can lead to severe injuries and infections in women due to what’s colloquially referred to as a “waterslide enema,” when forceful water pressure enters the body during high-speed slides. A study published by the National Library of Medicine explains that “water under high pressure can produce vaginal injury,” likely the basis of the sign’s restriction, per the Mirror . Such high-speed slides have, in past instances, led to infections or injuries in women due to water force and foreign particles in the water. The speed and pressure of slides can be dangerous. Credit: Westend61/Getty In a specific case reviewed in the study, researchers found that “vaginal injury in premenarcheal patients may result from a water slide. The emergency physician must be aware of this potential injury mechanism and the need for complete examination under anesthesia when vaginal bleeding is present.” This risk has led some extreme water attractions to restrict access to men only. Despite this potential risk, Australian diving champion Rhiannan Iffland took it on anyway, ignoring the sign that read: "Due to high risk of injury, women are not allowed to use this slide." Iffland shared her experience on social media, captioning the video: “Here for a good time not a long time! Another YOLO moment.” The video shows the seven-time Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series champion gripping the slide’s overhead bar and preparing herself by tightly crossing her legs before launching down the chute. Iffland’s audience was quick to respond, sharing their own often harrowing tales of waterslide mishaps, with one common term emerging: “water slide enema.” One viewer commented: “Unfortunately I got a water slide enema,” adding: “Peed out half the swimming pool in the toilet from my butt. I literally couldn’t stand upright after it happened. Weirdest thing I’ve ever experienced.” Others echoed similar sentiments, vowing to avoid slides of this kind in the future. “Never going on this type of slide again… it did me so wrong,” said one commenter. Another admitted: “The amount of people who got a water slide enema is scary. I’ve never even heard of that before. Well, I just need one reason so thanks, no more water slides for me.” Her comments were soon flooded with people warning her of what could happen, as one commented: "I got the worst enema on that slide bahhaha you are brave girl." Others added: "The amount of people that don’t understand why women aren’t supposed to go on this slide is scary!" and: "The reason women wear wetsuits when waterskiing." One joked: "No women allowed- unless you are a cliff diver because then you are used to it." There were some Instagram users who felt like the warning was sexist, with one person writing: "Are they just being sexist, that’s the stupidest rule I’ve ever heard." Some felt like the diver had let down her followers, writing: "She broke the rules and endangered herself. She needs to be responsible for her actions as younger girls look to her for guidance and inspiration." In response, Iffland told News.com.au that she didn't intend to encourage others to flout the rules, explaining: "It was never my intent to mock the safety regulations of this waterslide. "A person’s safety is paramount and I am constantly weighing up any danger with my job. To suggest otherwise, is wrong." The high speed and pressure of the water can be dangerous. Credit: Scott T. Smith/Getty Images While the danger can be minimized by making sure you keep your legs firmly crossed on the way down - which is easier said than done when going at such high speeds - others have experienced the horrifying side of extreme water slides. Parents of an eight-year-old girl who allegedly lost half a liter of blood on a waterslide at the WhiteWater World park, next to Dreamworld on the Gold Coast are suing the park over the alleged incident. A separate lawsuit has also been filed by a woman against Disney after she developed a "painful wedgie" while having a go on a waterslide in Florida. Stay safe folks! Presley Gerber's Mysterious Death: Cremation and Unanswered Questions

Presley Gerber's Mysterious Death: Cremation and Unanswered Questions

Just days after Presley Gerber’s shocking death, his family is moving forward with burial plans. Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber’s son was cremated at the Rose Family Funeral Home, TMZ reported on Friday, September 25, following his death on Sunday, September 20. He was 27. Presley’s ashes will be kept at his parents’ home in Malibu, California, according to the death certificate obtained by the outlet. (Crawford, 60, and Rande, 64, also share daughter Kaia Gerber.) TMZ also reported that funeral arrangements are “underway,” and will likely be held within the next week in the Southern California area. The model’s official cause of death is still listed as "deferred" and pending investigation despite the cremation and autopsy being complete. Us has reached out to Presley’s family for comment. Us previously confirmed that Presley died on Sunday at a rehab facility in Santa Monica, California. (Prior to his death, Presley was vocal about his struggles with addiction and his mental health battle.) The Santa Monica Police Department later told Us that officers responded to a call regarding a possible overdose at 9:35 a.m. local time on Sunday, where they found an unresponsive adult male at the scene. “The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner has identified the individual as Presley Gerber, 27,” authorities said in a statement. “SMPD detectives are investigating the death as a suspected overdose. At this time, there is no indication of foul play. The official cause and manner of death will be determined by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.” The Crawford-Gerber family also released a statement, reading, “The family is asking for privacy during this very difficult and painful time.” One day later, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner confirmed that Presley’s body was “ready for release,” but the cause of death was “deferred” for now, per records viewed by Us. The medical examiner’s office noted in a press release that it was in the “early stages of investigating” Presley’s death and “limited information is currently available.” “A deputy medical examiner performed an examination today and the cause and manner of death have been deferred, which means additional testing and/or studies were requested in order to make a determination,” the statement read. “Due to the ongoing death investigation, the DME cannot disclose what testing and/or studies were requested. Deferred cases can take a few months before a cause of death is determined.” Although Presley’s family has not further commented on his death, celebrities have been mourning the loss all week. “I’m completely heartbroken. I still can’t believe this is real,” Paris Hilton wrote via her Instagram Stories. “You were such a beautiful soul. So sweet, sensitive, kind and genuine. I cared about you so much, and I’m going to miss you more than words can say.” Presley’s ex-girlfriend and former Summer House star Lexi Wood paid tribute to him via Instagram on Tuesday, September 22, revealing that he “fought so hard for his life” amid his struggles. “He was brave enough to be open about that fight,” she explained. “More than anything, he wanted to use his story to help other people, and he did.” Wood, 29, concluded, “I feel so lucky to have shared so many years of friendship, so many memories and so much love with him. He will always hold such a special place in my heart, and we will all miss him forever. .” If you or someone you know is struggling with substance abuse, contact the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) National Helpline at 1-800-662-HELP (4357). Why Jason Kelce Is Urging Kyle Juszczyk to Fight Back Against the NFL

Why Jason Kelce Is Urging Kyle Juszczyk to Fight Back Against the NFL

Jason Kelce urged San Francisco 49ers star Kyle Juszczyk to fight back after the NFL fined him $14,926 for "engaging in offensive demonstrations” during a celebration.  “Juszczyk should threaten to counter sue for defamation,” Kelce, 38, wrote via X on Thursday, September 25. “How dare the NFL allege false accusations.” The fine was issued against Juszczyk, 35, earlier in the day on Thursday, after the NFL deemed he did an “imitation of chugging beer” during the 49ers’ win against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, September 20.  Juszczyk, who is nicknamed Juice, insisted he was imitating drinking juice, not a cold one. “No way they can prove he was chugging alcohol,” Kelce added. “He was chugging that ‘juice.’” After the punishment was levied, Juszczyk texted NFL insider Adam Schefter, “I don’t even drink beer!” Juszczyk held a summit with reporters after practice on Thursday to address the fine.  "I don't know how else to say it," the star fullback said. "I wasn't drinking beer in my celebration. I think you guys all know my nickname is Juice. I have 'Juice' on my pads. The stadium yells 'Juice' when I catch the ball. When I celebrate, I celebrate by drinking juice, and it's been that way for years. I was as surprised as anybody when I got a fine." Juszczyk said he has officially appealed the fine, which he found out about from 49ers head coach, Kyle Shanahan, during practice on Wednesday, September 23.  "I thought maybe he was just messing with me, but it's real," Juszczyk said. "My hearing is on Tuesday, and hopefully something changes." Juszczyk clarified on Thursday that he drinks beer “like five times a year in the offseason” because his teammate George Kittle “peer pressures me.” Kittle, 32, couldn’t help but joke about the situation. "Juice's new nickname is 'Beer' now," the tight end quipped on Thursday. "That's his new thing. As a team, we voted on that today." When issuing the fine to Juszczyk, the NFL noted that “players are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that reflects positively on the game and is consistent with NFL standards of sportsmanship."  As for Jason’s support, Kyle and his wife, Kristin, have been friends with the Kelce family for years, with Kyle and Kristin, 32, even attending the wedding of Jason’s brother, Travis, and Taylor Swift this summer.  In an exclusive interview with Us just days after the wedding, Kyle called it the “most incredible event.”

Why Stroke Rates Are Surging Among Young Adults

Why Stroke Rates Are Surging Among Young Adults

Stroke incidence more than doubled among young adults in a recent study.Researchers at the University of Cincinnati analyzed data from 2,076 first-ever strokes among adults ages 20–54 in the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky region from 1993-1994 to 2020.Over those three decades, the incidence increased from about 34 to 62 strokes per 100,000 people per year. The increase was primarily driven by ischemic stroke, which occurs when a blood vessel supplying the brain becomes blocked.Among the younger adults who experienced strokes, there was an increase in hypertension, diabetes, atrial fibrillation (irregular heartbeat) and substance use.“This has major implications, since young people who develop disability from a stroke may no longer be able to work or provide for their families,” study co-author David J. Robinson, M.D., an assistant professor of clinical neurology and rehabilitation medicine at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, told Fox News Digital.“We don’t know for sure why strokes are becoming more common, and we really need to study this in more depth if we are going to reverse this trend.”Stroke rates among adults ages 20 to 54 nearly doubled over three decades, a new study found. Aphisara – stock.adobe.comThere was also a sharp increase in documented substance use, which rose from 4.6% to 40.2% in the study period, primarily marijuana.“It’s hard to say whether this is responsible for any of the rise in stroke; there is a relationship between marijuana use and stroke, but most of the evidence is with heavier use,” Robinson said.“The relationship between marijuana use and cardiovascular disease needs more study so that we can properly advise our patients.”A stroke occurs when blood flow to part of the brain is blocked or a blood vessel bursts, depriving brain cells of oxygen. stockdevil – stock.adobe.comIn contrast to younger adults, stroke rates declined among older adults, falling from about 619 to 453 strokes per 100,000 people per year.Short-term survival after stroke also improved, the researchers found. The share of younger adults who died within 30 days of a stroke declined from 11.7% to 9.4% – primarily for bleeding-related strokes, including intracerebral and subarachnoid hemorrhages.“Our study might provide evidence that we have gotten better at treating people who have hemorrhagic strokes and helping them survive, which is encouraging,” said Robinson. The rise in strokes was linked to increasing rates of hypertension, diabetes and substance use among young adults. madrolly – stock.adobe.com“Still, prevention is the most important thing to focus on, because just surviving a stroke doesn’t mean you aren’t left without disability.”The findings were published in the journal Neurology on Sept. 23.‘Uncommon, not zero risk’Dr. Jason A. Gluck, vice chair of the Heart & Vascular Institute and system chief of cardiology at AtlantiCare in New Jersey, noted that while stroke is still uncommon in young adults, that doesn’t mean they have zero risk.“The concerning findings in this particular trial is that stroke rates are moving in the wrong direction for the younger population,” Gluck, who was not involved in the research, told Fox News Digital.“While many of the risk factors are things that we can identify and treat before a stroke occurs, when you’re young, sometimes you don’t know about it – so awareness is key.”Risk factors are pervasive across all age groups, the doctor noted.“The same things that happen to 70-year-olds can happen at 40 – if you have high blood pressure, if you have diabetes, if you’re smoking, if there’s obesity, abnormal cholesterol and activity, all those things can lead to [stroke],” he warned.“Vascular disease doesn’t suddenly begin when you’re 65; it develops over time.”Study limitationsThe main limitation of the study is that it did not include comparable risk factors for people without stroke.“We can’t say for sure how many of the stroke risk factors are changing in people without stroke in our region,” Robinson noted. “This makes it really hard to determine what is causing this rising incidence. We will need to look in other studies to really understand the ‘why’ of this trend.”Also, the findings may have been affected by changes in medical documentation and diagnostic methods over the nearly three decades.Increased use of MRI scans may have improved stroke detection and contributed to the rise in reported cases. Khunatorn – stock.adobe.comOne example provided was an increase in MRI use, which could potentially improve the detection of stroke. It was also possible that the rise in substance use was due to increased documentation or disclosure. The study was also geographically limited, including just five counties in one U.S. state.“While stroke is still relatively uncommon in younger individuals, it can happen and be really devastating,” Robinson said. The doctor emphasized that hypertension is the risk factor most tightly associated with stroke.“Younger people may not have a lot of opportunities to get their blood pressure and other risk factors screened, and we need to come up with solutions that can meet them where they are,” he said.Robinson recommended using the American Heart Association’s “Life’s Essential 8,” which is a checklist for optimizing your cardiovascular health.“It includes blood pressure control along with eating better, being less sedentary, quitting any tobacco products, sleeping well, managing your weight, controlling cholesterol and managing blood sugar.”Gluck recommends using the “BE FAST” guide to determine whether someone may be having a stroke, as follows. B: Balance suddenly off E: Eyes or vision change, where you suddenly can’t see the way normally can F: Facial drooping A: Arm weakness S: Speech difficulty T: Time to call 911 “If you’re having these symptoms or your loved one is having these symptoms, don’t drive yourself to the hospital,” he advised. “Call 911. Be fast.”
