Melissa Gilbert cryptically shared a quote from “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory” as she seemingly celebrated the dismissal of her husband Timothy Busfield’s child sexual abuse indictment.“So shines a good deed in a weary world,” Gilbert, 62, posted on Instagram Friday after a New Mexico judge tossed the charges against the actor, 69, who was accused of inappropriately touching twin boys on the set of “The Cleaning Lady.”The line, which Gene Wilder delivered in the 1971 film, was said when Charlie Bucket returns the Everlasting Gobstopper rather than betray Willy Wonka. Katie Zacharia's Surprising Exit from White House Raises Eyebrows

Katie Zacharia's Surprising Exit from White House Raises Eyebrows

Katie Zacharia is leaving her role as White House press secretary under President Donald Trump, Us can confirm. According to The New York Times and CNN, Zacharia, 41, was fired on Friday, October 16, after just five days on the job. Fox News, however, reported that Zacharia was “transitioning out" of her role. Trump, 80, also denied she had been fired, telling reporters, “I want her to have a good life. … She’s been brutalized by the media." Us has reached out to the White House for comment. The news comes hours after Trump spoke to reporters and confirmed that he asked Zacharia to reconsider her role. “Honestly, if I were you, I’d reconsider,” Trump said he told Zacharia on Friday morning. “Katie, do you need this? I don’t think you need this.” It’s been a week of headlines for Zacharia, who raised eyebrows during her first White House press briefing on Tuesday, October 13. She spent 14 minutes at the podium and took questions from only three outlets. Soon after, Zacharia’s resume was put into question after the Pepperdine Caruso School of Law graduate claimed to have passed the bar exam when she moved to China. Multiple outlets, including The New York Times and CNN, reported that they were unable to find a law license for Zacharia in California or anywhere else she has lived in the United States. The White House, however, still backed Zacharia ahead of her abrupt departure. “Katie is a fabulous and wonderful addition to the team,” White House spokesman Steven Cheung said in a statement to CNN on Thursday, October 15. “She is uniquely qualified and whip-smart to help inform the American people about all the great things President Trump and his administration have been doing, and she will do an incredible job as press secretary.” Although Zacharia has yet to speak out about her exit from the White House, the mother of four previously expressed how excited she was to work within the Trump administration. “Thank you to President Trump for the distinguished privilege of serving as White House Press Secretary,” she wrote via X on October 9. “Serving President Trump and the American people at this critical 250-year mark is the honor of a lifetime. President Trump has shown America that we can be great again, and he works to effectuate that greatness every single day. His confidence is a true privilege, and his leadership is a blessing to this country.” In a separate post, Trump added, “She has an unblemished record of support, and has been a loyal and brilliant supporter, right from the beginning. She is, likewise, a devoted fan and member of MAGA. I am confident that Katie will deliver strong results for our country as the next White House Press Secretary.”

Great Wolf Lodge Tragedy: Mother Drains 401(k) Before Family Horror

Great Wolf Lodge Tragedy: Mother Drains 401(k) Before Family Horror

Metallica Rose Harrison allegedly drained her husband’s 401(k) account to pay for their family’s trip to Great Wolf Lodge, where she ultimately killed him and their 3-year-old son. Metallica, 27, was arrested and charged with two counts of criminal homicide after she allegedly stabbed her husband, Charles Harrison, and their son, Tristan, in the chest during their trip to the Great Wolf Lodge in Scotrun, Pennsylvania. Charles’ stepmother, April Thetga, claimed to the New York Post that Metallica had tapped her son’s retirement account to pay for the three-week trip to the resort, which she said was an early Christmas present for Tristan. Additionally, she allegedly used her husband’s money for a kitchen remodel and other expenses. The family arrived at the resort on September 21. They extended their reservation on October 5 and planned to check out on Tuesday, October 13. “It was definitely odd, but they’d taken their 401(k) out. … There was nothing we could do about that,” Thetga said of the family’s recent financial decisions. Thetga added that she didn’t know whether the couple had borrowed against the retirement account or withdrew the money outright. Despite the risky financial move, Therga said that her family wasn’t too concerned with Metallica and Charles’ trip. She said that they even had a video call with Metallica the day before the murders. “She had called, and we’re video-chatting, and then she says she loved us very much, just like she normally would,” Thetga recalled. While speaking to the outlet, Thetga said that Charles, 36, was a devoted husband and father. “He was a fantastic husband. She definitely got lucky when it came to him. He just was good. He was a good father,” she said. “I don’t think I’ve ever even seen him fight.” Thetga added that they were “a loving family” and she was “shocked as everybody else” by the killings. “We’re not evil people. We want answers. They were always happy,” Thetga said. Authorities learned that Metallica had killed Charles and Tristan when she reportedly called 911 around 3 p.m. on Monday, October 12, saying she wanted to die and that her “husband and son are already gone.” Charles and Tristan were found dead inside their hotel room, and Metallica was found suffering from wounds to her wrist and neck. Authorities said the father had been stabbed multiple times in the chest, while the boy was stabbed one single time in the chest. Investigators searched the hotel room and found two knives, which staff members confirmed were not from the resort. Authorities also reported finding several bottles of medication and two containers of what appeared to be blood at the crime scene. When Metallica was taken into custody, she reportedly told officers that she “wanted to be with her husband and son.” It is not currently clear whether Metallica has entered a plea or retained legal counsel following her arrest. The investigation into the case remains ongoing. If you or someone you know is struggling or in crisis, help is available. Call or text 988 or chat at 988lifeline.org.

Elon Musk Unveils Tesla Roadster: A Car That Defies Gravity

See more of our coverage in your search results. Tesla CEO Elon Musk unveiled a futuristic “flying” car Thursday that can launch itself into the air using rocket-inspired thrusters — and can hit 60 mph in under a second. The tech billionaire showed off the next-generation all-electric vehicle, called the “Tesla Roadster,” at a SpaceX site in McGregor, Texas, on Thursday with an out-of-this-world demonstration.“We need an audience to prove that it’s not AI or SI,” Musk, 55, told the crowd. “So, you guys can tell people that you saw it with your eyes. Because what you see with your eyes, you will not believe,” he continued.“You’re going to see what happens when you have a collaboration with the world’s best car company and the world’s best rocket company. This is the culmination of incredible work by Tesla and SpaceX engineers working closely together to make something that you haven’t seen in any movie.”Tesla unveiled its new Roadster car that Elon Musk said “can basically fly like a rocket.” via REUTERSThe car then drove up a steep, curved ramp and appeared to defy gravity as it hung upside down on the ramp using a high-tech suction system. The vehicle then launched off the ramp, flipped in midair, and used air jets to land softly back on the ground. “Well, it worked,” Musk quipped after the awe-inspiring demonstration finished without any accident.Tesla unveils its long-delayed Roadster at a launch event in Waco, Texas, on Thursday, Oct. 15, 2026. via REUTERSMusk — who was standing alongside Tesla’s Vice President of Vehicle Engineering, Lars Moravy, and Tesla’s Chief Designer, Franz von Wolzhausen — said he thought he was “crazy” when he suggested the concept of the Roadster to his team, teasing that the vehicle was “better than any James Bond car.”“We have a fan suction system on the bottom of the car that can pull up to 2Gs (twice the force of gravity) in order to make the car upside down,” Moravy said, explaining the function.Tesla unveils its long-delayed Roadster nearly a decade after first revealing a next-generation version of its original electric sports car at a launch event in Texas on Thursday, Oct. 15, 2026. via REUTERS“Then we borrowed some technology from SpaceX to do the rest. This car really sucks. This car could suck the chrome off a trailer hitch. It could suck a tennis ball through a hose pipe,” Moravy added. The car, which didn’t have a human driver inside because Musk didn’t want to “kill anyone,” landed using its built-in, rocket-inspired thrusters. The car drove upside down on a curved ramp using a suction system and turned in the air. via REUTERSThe futuristic vehicle, which has a steer-by-wire system built in, then performed a kickflip demo.It zoomed towards a truck and other Tesla cars, thrust up into the air to an altitude of about 21 feet, rotated and landed. The Roadster can reach a top speed of up to 230 mph and has a battery range of at least 300 miles.A zero-to-60 mph speed test was also conducted, with the car clocking 0.81 seconds. However, Musk suggested the car might be able to exceed its 230 mph top speed.“I think you’ve got to crack halfway to the speed of sound — Mach 0.5,” he said, which was met with sniggers by Franz von Holzhausen, Tesla’s Chief Designer, and Moravy.Fans were left in awe by what they had seen during the event, which was livestreamed by Tesla.“Elon Musk just made Turbo Boost a reality,” one said, including a nod to the iconic scene from the 1980s show “Knight Rider” where Michael Knight, played by David Hasselhoff, pressed the turbo boost button on K.I.T.T’s dashboard.“A bunch of guys my age have been waiting our whole lives for this.”The car appeared to fly over a truck and other Tesla models. Tesla“Turns out the future does have flying cars,” Musk later quipped on X, reveling in the achievement. Musk has previously teased the prospect of flying cars. During an appearance on Joe Rogan’s podcast “The Joe Rogan Experience” last October, Musk teased the demonstration would be “unforgettable” and said, “I think it has a shot of being the most memorable product unveil ever.”Production will start in 2028 and a “performance” version of the vehicle requires a $50,000 deposit.A so-called “Thrust” version that comes with “acceleration thrusters” will require a $250,000 deposit. During the event, Musk claimed the car will be “on the roads” before slightly backtracking. The car went from zero to 60mph in less than a second. Tesla“You know I’m not necessarily sure it’s legal in all jurisdictions,” he said.“But there will be such a car that someone can own.”“Depends on your street, but it’ll be a viable car,” he said in response to an audience member who asked if itwould be road legal.Tesla’s new Roadster hits 60 mph in under a second during its flying debut. TeslaTesla’s new Roadster comes 18 years after the original Roadster, Tesla’s first EV, hit the market. The company is shifting its focus towards artificial intelligence-led self- driving tech and robotics.Tesla has stopped selling its Model S and X cars. The company will publish its Q3 2026 financial results on Oct. 21.

Sophia Grace Brownlee Welcomes Third Baby Amidst Emotional Journey

Sophia Grace Brownlee Welcomes Third Baby Amidst Emotional Journey

The Ellen DeGeneres Show child star Sophia Grace Brownlee is officially a mom of three. Brownlee, 23, announced via Instagram on Friday, October 16, that she welcomed daughter Ariella Bleu on October 4, sharing photos of herself holding the newborn next to a pair of balloons. Brownlee announed in June that she was expecting her third baby. “We are so excited to meet you ,” the influencer wrote via Instagram, sharing maternity footage in which she showed her eldest children ultrasound videos. She also added “Pregnant,” “Pregnancy,” “Mom of 3” and “3 Family Siblings” hashtags to her announcement. Brownlee, who rose to fame dancing to Nicki Minaj’s “Super Bass” on Ellen DeGeneres’ talk show, welcomed son River in March 2023. Her daughter, Athena, followed in December 2024. (Brownlee has never publicly identified the father of her children.) “I was quite young when I had River. I was 19, which I do feel like is quite young,” Brownlee recalled on the “Private Story” podcast in February. “I don’t regret, like, doing anything because I’m quite happy with where I am now. When I had Athena, I was 21, which is a bit more older.” https://www.instagram.com/p/Dej3kaKipY5/?img_index=1 She added at the time, “It’s obviously young to have kids, but I don’t really think there’s a right age to have kids as long as you’re ready and you’re mature enough, that’s all that matters.” For Brownlee, she felt “financially stable” enough to have a family because of her childhood career earnings. “If I wasn’t, like, I would have been struggling a lot,” she acknowledged. “So, yeah, I’m blessed to have been in that situation.” The social media star has since found her footing with motherhood after an admittedly scary childbirth experience. “It actually went quite bad with River. It wasn’t a nice experience,” she recalled on the podcast earlier this year. “I went into labor naturally, and I was just a week early, which is common. That’s not a problem, and everything was fine. It just, kind of, got bad when you’re actually trying to push the baby out. He was getting really stressed out, and he just wouldn’t come down properly like how [babies] are supposed to. Loads of different doctors and surgeons [came into my room], which is so scary.” Brownlee ended up having an emergency C-section after doctors told her River was “getting distressed.” “I was just so scared that they were going to put me to sleep ‘cause that is one of my biggest fears because I think I’m not going to wake up,” she said at the time, also revealing that she had a vaginal birth with Athena. “Because I had a C-section, they were like, ‘We’re going to book you in for another one.’ That’s what they like to do, but the midwives were, like, ‘No, we think you can have her naturally, so at least try.’ I did, and it went so quickly. … I was so proud of myself, and I was glad I got to experience a natural birth.”

Chad Lowe's Heartfelt Tribute to Daughter Fiona Sparks Emotional Reactions

Chad Lowe's Heartfelt Tribute to Daughter Fiona Sparks Emotional Reactions

The 9-1-1: Nashville season 2 premiere featured a solemn tribute to Chad Lowe’s daughter Fiona, who died by suicide last month. “In Loving Memory,” read a title card shown at the end of the Thursday, October 15, episode, alongside Fiona’s name and photo. Chad, 58, has directed multiple episodes of both 9-1-1: Nashville and 9-1-1: Lone Star, which starred his brother Rob Lowe. He also portrayed Rob’s onscreen brother in a brief arc. (9-1-1: Lone Star aired for five seasons until its cancellation in 2025.) News broke in September that Chad’s daughter had died. She was 13. “We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona,” Chad and wife Kim Painter wrote in a joint statement, calling Fiona “a loving young girl who was smart, creative and loved to dance.” They continued at the time, “She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents. In fact, she was the light of our lives. Her passing is devastating for our entire family and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time. If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health, please reach out to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988.” Chad and Painter, 52, are also parents of daughters Mabel, 17, and Nixie, 10. Mabel has since been candid about grieving the loss of her sibling. “I love you so much, Fiona ❤️. I wish your short time here was easier and I hope your mind is at ease now,” she wrote via Instagram on October 3. “I will honor you forever and keep your memory alive. I love you, I hope you knew just how much.” Neither Chad nor Painter have further addressed Fiona’s death, with the Pretty Little Liars alum returning to social media on October 8 to repost a candid message about grief and healing. “We both possess the human and the divine,” Gerry Hussey said during a 2025 appearance on the “Of Healing” podcast, which Lowe shared via his Instagram Stories earlier this month. “Through consciousness and awareness when we awaken the peaceful observer and we get beyond our physical human emotions and our physical human needs and the needs of the ego, and we just let go and we release all that and we connect to a feeling, that is the divine frequency.” Two days after his social media return, Chad and Painter attended nephew Matthew Lowe’s wedding to now-wife Emily Markus. If you or someone you know is struggling or in crisis, help is available. Call or text 988 or chat at 988lifeline.org. 9-1-1: Nashville airs on ABC Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET.

Jon Gosselin Defends Son Collin Against Mental Health Claims

Jon Gosselin Defends Son Collin Against Mental Health Claims

Jon Gosselin is one proud father in the wake of his son Collin Gosselin’s debut tell-all memoir. “First and foremost, I couldn’t be more proud of my son’s heartbreaking memoir and his mission to help other victims of abuse,” Jon, 49, exclusively told Us in a statement on Thursday, October 15, referring to Collin’s claims in his book, In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood, that he was abused by mom Kate Gosselin as a child. Jon — who rose to fame while starring on TLC’s Jon & Kate Plus 8 alongside his now-ex wife, Kate, 51, their twin daughters and sextuplets — also clapped back at allegations that Collin, 22, has mental health issues. “Also, let me be very clear: If you continue to falsely label my son Collin as ‘mentally ill,’ you will be held accountable,” he continued. “As you know, Collin has been evaluated by multiple independent psychiatrists, and that narrative is proven categorically untrue.” The former reality star noted, “Repeating false claims about his mental health is damaging to his reputation, his credibility and his future.” Jon concluded his statement by backing his son and the allegations made in his book. “Consider this fair warning: The days of using mental health to discredit and silence my son are over,” he said. Jon’s rep Adriane Schwartz, meanwhile, tells Us, "Jon has remained quiet to give Collin the space to share his story in his own voice. He fully supports his son and is incredibly proud of him. Collin deserves to be heard and treated with respect, and Jon stands firmly beside him.” Jon did not directly name who his comments were directed toward in his statement. However, Kate previously addressed "mental illness" in a comment on her TikTok earlier this week. In response to a fan who told Kate she was "doing a great job keeping [her] head up," the matriarch wrote, "I know rational logical [people] or anyone who has dealt with mental illness understands what’s going on here. I had nothing to do with it.” Like his father, Collin was thrust into the spotlight on Jon & Kate Plus 8, which debuted in 2007 and ended in 2009 after five seasons. On the show, Jon and Kate showed what it was really like raising twin daughters, Mady and Cara, now 26, and sextuplets Collin, Hannah, Leah, Alexis, Joel and Aaden, now 22. Jon and Kate’s messy custody battle became national news after their 2009 divorce. Ultimately, Collin and sister Hannah chose to live with their father, following a series of alleged traumatic events for Collin, in which he claimed that Kate sent him to a psychiatric hospital without telling Jon. Collin has also claimed that Kate was physically and emotionally abusive toward him from a young age and it only got worse when he rebelled against being on the TLC series. Us has reached out to Kate regarding her son’s memoir and numerous abuse claims but has not heard back at the time of publication. She has previously and consistently denied any wrongdoing. “She [stayed] for about 20 minutes,” Collin exclusively claimed to Us in his cover story of Kate’s visit to the hospital one year into his stay when he was 12. “Our conversation consisted of [her saying], ‘Collin, you destroyed our family.’ I was devastated.” Collin told Us his experience with his father was very different. He recalled Jon removing him from the hospital in 2018 after he discovered his location. "There was a point where we both were like, my god, like I was like wow, I didn't know that you were like going to court and trying to find out where it was. I didn't know that. We were just both kept in the dark,” Collin told Us. “He didn't know where was and I didn't know that he was trying or that he wanted anything to do with me. Because last I was told he didn't want anything to do with me." The Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test contestant explained, "So there was like this huge it was this crazy moment when I was like, ‘I was told I wasn't allowed to visit you,’ and he was told I didn't want to visit him and we just kinda sat down and hashed it all out and realized that we both wanted the same thing the whole time." Collin claimed that when his parents got divorced, "My dad was sent out of the home. I was told all these horrible things about him. I mean, that he was like the worst person that ever walked this planet. I mean, that's how my mother made it sound." Once he was able to see his dad again years later, he told Us it was clear that he “wasn’t this horrible monster that I’ve been told that he was.” “We were like two broken people trying to rebuild a relationship from scratch,” Collin said, reflecting on his teenage years with Jon. “I was like, ‘Who is this guy?’ and he felt like, ‘I don’t know how to be there for my son after everything he’s gone through.’ We worked on that, and now we’re closer than ever. Good things take time.” In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood is available for purchase online and in bookstores.

I admit that I was happy and surprised at the same time,” she said following her appointment.“I thought about it for a while, but finally said: ‘Why not? I’ll try.’ However, I had no experience, so I learned everything along the way.”Jaksova joined the club’s reporting team despite having “no experience,” she revealed. @sabina_j96/InstagramThe interview is reminiscent of another incident involving a soccer coach that went viral last year.Shakhtar Donetsk boss Arda Turan awkwardly avoided eye contact as he was being interviewed by female reporter Daria Savina. He fidgeted throughout the two-minute interview and put his hands in his pockets. In a further clip to circulate online, Turan was seen putting his arm around a female supporter while posing for a picture, without actually making any contact.Turan married his wife Aslihan Dogan in a ceremony attended by Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan.A reporter attempted to question Aslihan outside the venue, causing Turan to interject.“Be respectful, or I will crush your head and eyes!” he said. “You’re talking to my wife.”

Chick-fil-A CEO's Response on LGBTQ Issues Sparks Debate

See more of our coverage in your search results. NBC’s “Today” co-anchor Craig Melvin pressed Chick-fil-A CEO Andrew Cathy Wednesday about the fast-food chain’s position on LGBTQ rights, repeatedly questioning the company’s Christian beliefs and past opposition to same-sex marriage during a segment highlighting its history and business success. When Melvin asked for Chick-fil-A’s official position on equal rights, Cathy emphasized the company’s commitment to serving customers rather than directly addressing its position on LGBTQ issues.“We’re focused on hospitality, serving great-tasting food and great service,” Cathy said. The exchange came after Melvin revisited the company’s 2012 controversy, when Cathy’s father, former CEO Dan Cathy, publicly supported traditional marriage, triggering protests and boycotts. The company faced criticism over charitable donations to Christian organizations accused of opposing LGBTQ rights.NewsBusters managing editor Curtis Houck criticized NBC’s handling of the interview in comments to Fox News Digital, accusing the network of deliberately emphasizing the controversy.Chick-fil-A CEO Andrew Cathy told NBC’s “Today” that the chain is focused on “hospitality” when asked about its stance on LGBTQ rights. NBC News“While it was only just over 90 seconds of a roughly six-minute block, its mention and prominence after its airing on the ‘Today’ social media platforms was proof this was wholly intended to be an ambush,” Houck said.“Never mind the company’s remarkably courteous staff who serve everyone no matter whom they love. That alone is never enough. NBC should be ashamed of itself.“It’s incredibly disappointing that Melvin dwelt on it for that much of the package, as he, like the Cathy family, is a fellow believer in Christ. Just before the haggling, he praised Chick-fil-A for how much their faith has guided them, from their humble beginnings to its status as the third-largest fast-food chain in America.”Demonstrators protest outside a Chick-fil-A restaurant in Hollywood, California, in 2012. Getty ImagesMelvin asked Cathy how he would respond to people who previously protested Chick-fil-A over accusations that the company did not support the LGBTQ community.Cathy responded by emphasizing that customers were welcome at the restaurant chain regardless of their backgrounds.“Everybody that’s willing to walk in the door, they’re welcome to come eat with us. We would love to give them a great-tasting sandwich and great hospitality,” Cathy said.Melvin subsequently pressed Cathy about whether he wanted to discuss that chapter of the company’s history before asking directly about its position on equal rights. The company has faced criticism over past donations to Christian organizations accused of opposing LGBTQ rights. USA TODAY Network via Reuters ConnectThe exchange also drew criticism from former “Today” anchor Katie Couric, who commented on the show’s Instagram post about the interview.“A non answer answer,” she said. “This is what his father Dan Cathy said in 2012. ‘We are very much supportive of the family — the biblical definition.’ A good follow-up would have been: ‘Do you agree with your father?'”Chick-fil-A’s religious foundation has remained central to its corporate identity despite past controversies. During Wednesday’s interview, Cathy reaffirmed the company’s longstanding practice of closing on Sundays and described its Christian mission as an anchor. In 2019, Fox News Digital reported that Chick-fil-A would stop donating to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Salvation Army after criticism of the organizations’ positions on LGBTQ issues. The company redirected its charitable giving toward education, homelessness and hunger initiatives.Chick-fil-A’s current corporate policies prohibit employment discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression. The company’s official corporate purpose continues to emphasize glorifying God and positively influencing those who interact with the business.
