"The cause of death has been ruled as toxic effects of fentanyl, 4-ANPP, Alprazolam, Methocarbamol and Quetiapine," the coroner’s official statement said, per Variety . "The manner of death has been ruled accident." Fentanyl is a powerful synthetic opioid, while 4-ANPP is a chemical intermediate used in the illegal manufacture of fentanyl. Alprazolam is a benzodiazepine sold as Xanax. Methocarbamol is a prescription muscle relaxant, and quetiapine is an antipsychotic used to treat schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and major depressive disorder. Family and co-stars gathered for the memorial Around a month after her death, Panettiere was remembered at a memorial service in Malibu attended by family, friends, and former co-stars. Her father was among those present at Malibu Pacific Church, while several of her Nashville co-stars, including Connie Britton, Jonathan Jackson and Sam Palladio, also attended. Ruby Rose, Evan Ross, Beverly D'Angelo, Storm Santos, Caroline D'Amore, Cameron Richardson, and Paris Hilton also attended to pay tribute. Panettiere’s estranged mother, Lesley Vogel, was not at the memorial. Seaver was reportedly informed in the letter that his removal from security services had no impact on his personal interest in Parton’s estate. Us has reached out to Seaver’s company for comment. A rep for Seaver’s security team SAPS told the outlet that they were “dismayed by the unexpected and, so far, unexplained actions” taken by the executors of Parton’s estate since her death. “We remain unshakably resolved to fulfill her final directive to protect her family, and we refuse to be intimidated by those whose actions we believe are being taken in bad faith and with the intent to profit from the life of someone who willingly gave so much,” a company spokesperson added. The alleged upheaval among Parton’s staff is particularly surprising since Seaver — the son of Dolly’s sister Cassie — was given the responsibility of announcing his aunt’s death at age 80 on August 25. “As her head of security for more than two decades — a role my father Larry held before me — I have imagined the heaviness of this moment but haven’t truly felt it until now,” Seaver said in a video message posted on Parton’s official Instagram account. “It is an honor — an honor that is mixed with absolute pride and great sadness. But sadness lies with us, not with Dolly. A young couple in Arkansas is dead after a man accidentally killed his girlfriend while “playing” with a gun before he died by suicide. The Fairbanks Police Department said in a statement that 911 dispatchers first received a call that a man had accidentally shot his girlfriend inside a home on Wednesday, September 16, around 9:12 p.m. The caller, described as a friend of the man, contacted 911 immediately and stayed on the line as officers reported to the scene. During the phone call, dispatchers reported hearing a disturbance in the background. As police arrived at the home, they found one woman dead and a man who was “critically injured.” The man was then taken to a local hospital for treatment, where he later died. The pair has since been identified as Landon Lowrance and CloeRae McBrayer. An investigation was launched into the matter, and police learned that Lowrance, 22, shot McBrayer, 21, while he was “playing with the gun and pointing it at her.” “The caller, a friend of Lowrance’s, immediately contacted 911. While the line was open with dispatch, the caller attempted to physically intervene when Lowrance obtained another firearm and shot himself,” police said in the statement. “The caller was interviewed by detectives and is not believed to have been involved in the shootings.” Police added that the incident was “a tragic and preventable loss of life.” “The Fairbanks Police Department urges everyone to practice firearm safety at all times,” the department continued. “Firearms should always be handled responsibly and safely, and individuals should never participate in games or activities involving firearms that place anyone at risk of injury or death.” Police then asked that anyone with information regarding the case contact FPD detectives at fpdinvestigations@fairbanks.gov or 907-450-6500. Following the tragedy, McBrayer’s friends and family told KTUU that she was a loving and outgoing “all-American girl.” McBrayer’s mother, Amanda Hooper, said that her daughter “the sunshine of the family.” “She’d love to be the center of attention,” Hooper said of McBrayer. “She’s bubbly, she wants you to talk to everybody. She would sing, she helped everybody.” Hooper added that McBrayer and Lowrance, who was stationed at Fort Wainwright in Alaska, were considering getting engaged. “She went up [to Fairbanks] for the weekend one time, and then she came back and was like, ‘Mama, he’s a really good guy,’” Hooper recalled. “I talked to his mom, she seems like a really good family, and they were talking about getting engaged this weekend and then all this.” Hooper added that she is not “mad” at Lowrance’s family following the tragedy. “It was out of their control — there was nothing that they could do about it,” she said. “I’m hurt because I don’t know exactly what happened. Patrick Clancy confirmed that he and his new wife, Rachel Danis, are starting a family of their own. Patrick was quizzed about whether he and Danis are planning to have children in a 60 Minutes interview that aired on Sunday, September 20. Danis said “yes” when asked if they were starting a family. Patrick then shared what he’d tell his future children about the three children he shared with former wife Lindsay Clancy. Lindsay stands accused of killing the former couple’s kids — Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months — though recent legal proceedings against her ended in a mistrial. “I think every parent can agree you have different relationships with your kids, but they’re all your kids. I can’t wait to tell them about their brothers and sister,” Patrick said. Patrick married Danis, a fertility doctor, in New York City in April, just months before his former wife’s high-profile criminal trial. In the emotional 60 Minutes interview, Patrick admitted that he thought he wouldn’t survive after his children were killed in January 2023. “There was a time where I didn't think I would live to see my 35th birthday, and I was completely fine with it,” he said. Patrick also opened up about discovering his children had been strangled after returning from running an errand. Cora and Dawson were dead when he returned home. Callan was airlifted to a children’s hospital and died four days later. “I really thought there was a chance that Callan would live,” he said. “I remember just thinking, 'Just give me one. Just give me one kid, and I would raise him as best I could, and I would give him the best life I possibly could. I'd tell him about his brother and sister.' And I was holding out hope for that." "I got to hold him. I got to lay down next to him. And he died in my arms," Patrick shared. Lindsay’s trial over the deaths of the three children resulted in a mistrial earlier this month. She has not denied killing her children, but her defense lawyers argued that she should not be held criminally responsible due to her struggles with postpartum psychosis. The prosecution has yet to decide if Lindsay will face another trial. For his part, Patrick said he forgives his ex-wife. “I saw headlines that said, you know, 'Killer Mom,' and 'Baby Murderer' [and] 'Monster.' And none of them were accurate,” he said. “I think if people said, 'She did a horrible thing,' I think everyone could agree with that. But I believe that it was her mental illness that caused that.” Patrick said he “did the best I could with what I had at the time. And I live with the outcome. On Monday, Wall Street makes it official: Nike has lost its blue-chip luster.That’s when the once-dominant athletic-wear behemoth drops out of the S&P 100 — the benchmark index of America’s large-cap companies — for the first time in 18 years.With Nike’s stock down nearly 80% from its 2021 high, it’s no wonder. REUTERSRevenue peaked two years ago at $51.36 billion, but it’s sunk 10% since.It would be easy and pat to dismiss this debacle as the business world’s latest example of “go woke, go broke.”But the truth is more complicated.Nike was always a men’s brand that sold some stuff to women.You could see it in its hard-driving, hyper-competitive aesthetic: “Just Do It” is the quintessential male locker-room dare.That built an empire with men, but it never fully landed with women — even though we can be competitive and hard-driving too.The brand’s record with women tells the tale.Allyson Felix, the most decorated American track athlete alive, had to fight Nike for maternity protections after the company slashed her sponsorship pay when she got pregnant.Mary Cain, a teen prodigy in Nike’s Oregon Project running club, described a culture that monitored her weight and ignored her injuries.Her Nike coach, she said, abused her to the point that she contemplated suicide. The experience ended her running career.Corporate headquarters fostered a boys’ club so entrenched that in 2018 women at Nike circulated surveys documenting harassment, strip-club outings, keys thrown at female employees and careers that stalled unless you could “play in the sandbox.”Highly regarded senior men were ousted from the company over these revelations, and then-CEO Mark Parker publicly apologized.But he never fully recovered from the scandal; Parker was gone by 2020.So Nike’s “pro-woman” stance has always been marketing, and nothing more.It misses the mark with female consumers every time.For example, Nike was late to yoga as a lifestyle, and late to the idea that women wanted performance clothes that they could live in, not just race in.Lululemon built an entire category that Nike treated as an afterthought — and the giant then spent years trying to catch up via belated collaborations.The brand never shifted its core attitude toward women, just beefed up its women’s line and added some new “girl power” advertising.And it lost sight of a core business fact: Women make nearly 90% of athletic apparel decisions in the home — not just for themselves, but for the kids and the husband too.Once you lose them, you lose big.Nike never had the foothold with women that it had with men — and then it seemed to go out of its way to alienate them.The company pulled out of the places women actually shop — Amazon, DSW, the wholesale racks where moms pick up the kids’ shoes and the husband’s workout gear.It chased a younger, “hipper,” higher-margin direct-to-consumer customer instead: richer, more political, less “normie.” Less mom.It overproduced the collabs directed at trend-conscious young men, limited editions that used to feel scarce, and wrecked the scarcity.Nike stopped innovating, recycling Air Force 1s while Hoka and On Running stole market share.Then its marketing geniuses put Dylan Mulvaney in a Nike Women’s running bra and leggings and had him prance around his backyard for the cameras — and called it representation.The message the brand sent with that dumb social-media campaign was this: We know better than the women making the actual purchases for their own families.Get woke, ladies, or get out.No surprise, women left.Good luck getting them back.Now under Elliott Hill, the Nike lifer pulled out of retirement in October 2024, the company is trying to walk some of it back — via sorority rush-week sponsorships, a SKIMs partnership and a sudden interest in the female customer it spent a decade talking past.But a new CEO can’t wave a wand and undo years of distribution mistakes, boring product and marketers who looked down on the people who buy the clothes and shoes.This is larger than “go woke, go broke”: It’s what happens when an iconic company decides the customers are optional.When a brand that always resonated more with men decides women should be lectured, sidelined and erased in their own sport categories rather than listened to and respected.It’s hubris.
