Jenna Dewan's Fiancé Defends Her Amid Rumors of DWTS Chemistry

Jenna Dewan's fiancé, Steve Kazee, is fiercely defending her after fans speculated about her alleged closeness with Dancing With the Stars pro partner Val Chmerkovskiy. "They don't have chemistry. They have too much chemistry. They have chemistry in the wrong places. Make up your minds," Steve, 50, joked in apparent Instagram replies to coverage about DWTS. "Ya'all really got too much time on your hands. The spouses are unbothered, stay hatin'." Steve spoke out over speculation among fans on social media that Jenna and Val exhibited inappropriate intimacy in the ballroom given that both are in long-term relationships with other people. (Jenna and Steve have been engaged since 2020 while Val's wife is fellow DWTS pro Jenna Johnson, who is paired with Glee star Harry Shum Jr. on the ABC reality competition this season.) "Also put respect on my queen's name and at least pronounce her name correctly when you try to slander her," Steve also reportedly wrote to his fiancée's critics. Jenna, 45, and Val, 40, have steadily improved their scores each week during Dancing With the Stars season 35. The couple started off with a solid score of 19 out of 30 for their tango on the season premiere while they soared to 24 points for their rumba on "Mariah Carey Night" on Tuesday, October 6. Last week, Steve showered Jenna with praise over how she's handled both the pressure of DWTS as well as potential criticism from the judges and viewers. "I could not be more in awe of this incredible woman,” Steve wrote after Yacht Rock Night on September 29. “The amount of literal blood, sweat, and tears she has poured into this journey over the last month has been beyond amazing to witness. The hours, the bruises, the blisters, the exhaustion, the nerves, the constant push to get better." The Tony Award-winning actor credited Jenna with giving herself "completely to this experience" of competing in the ballroom. "Somehow, through all of it, she is joy,” he wrote. “I think in life we should all want the people we love most to have the chance to fill their hearts with the things that make them feel most alive. To challenge themselves. To surprise themselves. To remember parts of who they are that maybe got buried beneath work, parenthood, responsibility, and just the everyday business of life.” Steve also celebrated the way his fiancée has handled "all the noise that comes with putting yourself out there" on a platform like Dancing With the Stars. "I’ve also watched her take on all the noise that comes with putting yourself out there like this. The opinions, the chatter, and the criticism that, despite best attempts, feels almost inescapable in this age of the almighty algorithm,” he added. “And what has impressed me most is that she keeps showing up with an open heart.” His lovely tribute concluded, "She listens, she works, she keeps learning, and she refuses to let any of it steal the joy she has found in doing this. I am just so damn proud of her and I am honored to stand beside her through it all. Keep dancing, baby. Keep filling up that heart. I’ll be right here cheering louder than anyone." Following this week's live show, Jenna opened up exclusively to Us about the mental and physical rigors of training for DWTS. "I keep saying that I knew it would be hard. Skydance CEO David Ellison doubled down on his plans to combine HBO Max and Paramount+ into a single streaming service – sparking questions about how much the mega-streamer could cost fans.Ellison’s $81 billion merger of Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery officially closed Tuesday, forming a new media behemoth called Skydance, after months of antitrust roadblocks.In the “long term,” the company plans to “bring [HBO Max] and [Paramount+] together” as one streaming service,” the exec told reporters Tuesday on his first day running the new Hollywood giant.David Ellison doubled down on his plans to combine HBO Max and Paramount+ into a single streaming service. Noam Galai“It’ll take a period of time to do that,” he added. “So I think in the immediate, you will see them operated separately,” with “bundling” options available “in the relatively short term.”Ellison said the company expects to “accelerate how quickly we accomplish that goal,” thanks to advancements in “AI technology and other things.”He declined to comment further on the bundle options.The combined streamer – which would merge the country’s third- and fifth-largest services – would boast about 200 million total subscribers, according to Ellison.By that count, an HBO Max-Paramount+ hybrid would be on par with Amazon Prime, currently the second-largest streamer with roughly 200 million subscribers, and still below Netflix’s dominant 325 million customers.During Tuesday’s press conference, Ellison noted a combined platform will allow Skydance to “compete with the Disneys and Netflixes and Amazons and anybody in the world.”It’s unclear how much the combined service could cost, and whether the company is planning to hike prices. It has already announced $6 billion in planned cost cuts, including layoffs, though it has not specified which divisions will be hit.A basic HBO Max plan with ads currently costs $10.99 a month or $109.99 a year. The premium, ad-free version costs $22.99 a month or $229.99 annually.The Paramount+ Essential plan with ads costs $8.99 a month, while the Premium plan – which is ad-free and allows customers to stream CBS live – costs $13.99 a month.That means if the streamers’ price tags were combined, a basic plan would cost $19.98 a month and a premium subscription would cost an eye-watering $36.98 a month.“The White Lotus” Season 3 is available on HBO Max. HBOBut it’s likely the company will take a similar approach to Disney+ and Hulu, at least in the short term, by offering discounted bundle options.A standalone Hulu plan costs $12.49 a month with ads or $21.49 a month without ads, while a Disney+ plan goes for the same rates.The popular Disney+ and Hulu bundle, however, starts at $12.99 a month and goes up to $21.99 a month – just pennies more than customers pay for the individual plans.HBO Max is also included in a bundle with Disney+ and Hulu, but it comes at a much steeper price tag – starting at $21.99 a month with ads or $34.99 a month with no ads.HBO Max is home to popular shows like “House of the Dragon,” “Succession” and “The White Lotus.” Paramount+ offers “Yellowstone” and its spin-off shows, along with “Landman,” “Criminal Minds” and “South Park.”“Landman” is streaming on Paramount+. Hollywood powerhouse Creative Artists Agency is the building’s largest and best-known tenant, but sources said the tower is  at least 50% vacant, compared to Grand Central-area averages of below 10%.Neither Tishman Speyer nor Cooper Union disclosed terms of their agreement. Valerie Bertinelli has no regrets about posting a photo of her late ex-husband, Eddie Van Halen, on the anniversary of his death. “It does not take long for me to get a lot of pushback when I post a picture of me and Ed,” Bertinelli, 66, shared via Instagram on Tuesday, October 6. “It used to really bother me. It does not, not anymore. Not any longer, because I learned a lot.” Earlier in the day, the Hot in Cleveland actress posted a throwback picture with the rocker on social media. Van Halen — who was married to Bertinelli from 1981 to 2007 — died of cancer in 2020 at the age of 65. “Photos may fade, like old photos do, but not the memories and never the love,” she captioned the tribute. After receiving some comments from “haters” about the post, Bertinelli decided to address the scrutiny directly in a video message. “They’ll never quite say the words, ‘You’re not allowed to love your ex-husband,’ but they berate you and berate you for months, make you think you’re crazy until you finally say, ‘OK, fine, I don’t love him,’” she said. “They will never say, ‘Take that picture down, the one of your ex-husband along with you and your son in better days.’ They’ll never say take it down. But [they’ll say] that you’re obsessed, say all kinds of f***ed up s*** until you take the picture down.” While Bertinelli said she was once swayed by coercive comments, those days are over. Lauren Graham is looking back at one of Gilmore Girls’ most controversial story lines. During her appearance on the Wednesday, October 7, episode of Christine Taylor and David Lascher’s “Hey Dude … The ‘90s Called!” podcast, Graham, 59, reflected on the seasons 5 and 6 story line where her character, Lorelai Gilmore, was estranged from daughter Rory (Alexis Bledel) after Rory chose to take time off from Yale University. “It was hard to play,” Graham admitted. “I remember asking [series cocreator Amy Sherman-Palladino], I was like, ‘I don't think people like this and … it's hard to justify.’” The Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist alum added that the plotline felt “out of character” for Lorelai and Rory. Graham recalled Sherman-Palladino, 60, arguing that Lorelai and Rory’s relationship couldn’t always be “idyllic,” especially when the show leaned into dramatic elements. “The other conversation that went on around that show was, ‘Is it a comedy or is it a drama?’” Graham continued. “And it was really kind of both at a time … they would always switch our category for any kind of award submission. They couldn't decide, it felt like. Like, Ally McBeal, I feel like, was doing well as a comedy, a one-hour comedy, but it had whatever elements that made that fit a little better.” Graham recalled season 6 of Gilmore Girls getting “quite dramatic.” Gilmore Girls, which ran for seven seasons from 2000 to 2007, followed single mom Lorelai, who gave birth to Rory at 16 years old and left her high-society parents’ home in a wealthy community in Hartford, Connecticut, to raise her daughter in the nearby, quirky small town of Stars Hollow. The show focused on the friendly mother-daughter relationship between Lorelai and Rory, as well as Lorelai’s tumultuous dynamic with her own mother, Emily Gilmore (Kelly Bishop). Fans have widely debated Lorelai and Rory’s estrangement in season 6, which came after Rory received harsh criticism from a newspaper industry titan and felt she could no longer succeed in a journalism career. Many fans believed Rory’s decision to temporarily drop out of college felt immature for her character and disagreed with Lorelai’s decision to stop speaking to her daughter. However, others have pointed out that the story line was crucial for character development. Elsewhere on Wednesday’s podcast episode, Graham reflected on the cult classic popularity of Gilmore Girls today, recalling that the show wasn’t as successful when it first aired on TV. “What’s funny to me, too, is when people talk about the show, [they say] ‘that hit show.’ It was not a hit show then,” she said. “We had the lowest ratings. Also, we were on The WB, which was still like, ‘What’s that?’” Graham continued, “Hot take, but something with Girls in the title is just going to knock out a good portion of the audience who thinks like, ‘Oh, it’s for young people’ or ‘It’s for women.’ It was not a hit then. It was not a big deal. It had its followers, but it has grown in a way you could never have imagined.” Graham and Sherman-Palladino are both set to appear in an upcoming HBO Max documentary about Gilmore Girls. The pair are also working on a book about the show, slated for release in the fall of 2027.

Daniella Karagach broke her silence about her and husband Pasha Pashkov's absence from the upcoming Dancing With the Stars tour. "We're probably going to be in and out," she exclusively told Us on Tuesday, October 6. "We just want to take this time to truly just enjoy our family." Karagach, 33, noted that she and Pashkov, 40, "haven't had a moment" to focus on themselves and their daughter, Nikita, 3, adding, "She has been on three tours. We haven't had a break, and I think this is the time to just inhale each other and go for a vacation in December or something." Karagach didn't rule out a smaller involvement on the 60-stop tour, however. "[We could] pop in and out because I think we should do some of the stuff. That'd be fun," she teased. "We'll do a few weeks here and there." ABC announced on Tuesday that Dancing With the Stars: Live! 2027 will be taking place early next year. Karagach is currently focused on her partner Ezra Frech's success in season 35. "It's a roller-coaster. "That's part of the process. But having Dani as the therapist, the best friend, the coach and the all of the above is so valuable." He gushed: "I try to learn as much as I can from her and just absorb, absorb, absorb as much as possible because she's so talented and so amazing at what she does. Anyone that says anything nice about my dancing, it's only because of her." Their hard work paid off, with the pair being awarded a 24 out of 30 for their rumba to Mariah Carey's "Anytime You Need a Friend" during Tuesday's episode. "We have no expectation when it comes to scores. We don't think about those things," Karagach told Us. "We literally just try to think about devoting all our time and effort into the dance that we're doing that week and that's it. That's all that's in our heads. It's not about the score. Tragedy Strikes: WVU Recruit Chris Wilson Jr. Killed in Car Shooting

University of West Virginia football recruit Chris Wilson Jr. has died following a car shooting in Indiana. According to a Tuesday, October 6, report by ESPN, the Yorktown High School student, who had committed to WVU, was “found in a vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds and pronounced dead on the scene.” He was 17 years old. The outlet reported that Indiana’s Muncie Police Department received a call stating that shots had been fired at 2:59 AM one morning prior. An investigation into the emerging star’s death is currently underway. WVU Mountaineers coach Rich Rodriguez told the outlet in a statement that the Football program was “heartbroken” to learn of the tragic news. “We really enjoyed getting to know Chris during the recruiting process. The WVU football program sends it[s] heartfelt thoughts and prayers to Chris' family in this difficult time,” the statement read. The outlet also reported that Yorktown High School principal Stacey Brewer addressed Wilson Jr.'s death via written communication with parents and students on the morning of Monday, October 5. “With great sadness, I share that Chris Wilson, a senior at Yorktown High School, died tragically early this morning,” Brewer wrote. "His family has given us permission to share this news. Chris was a valued member of our school, our football team, and our community. Our hearts are with his family, friends, and teammates.” Local Indianapolis news outlet Fox 59 reported later on Tuesday that Wilson Jr.'s family is looking for “answers” amid the tragedy. His mother, Tywanna Price, told the outlet that the shooter “snatched his life from me” before urging the unknown person to “come forward.” The mom continued, “The dispatch call said that somebody walked behind the car, or on the side of the car, and shot at his side. That’s all I know. That’s all they’re telling me.” Price also said that her son had been in the car with his girlfriend at the time of the shooting. “They weren't hurt. So, it was, like, it was targeted for my son,” she said. “We deserve more answers. He deserves more answers. He had a beautiful life ahead of him.” The outlet noted that Muncie authorities “did not clarify” whether or not officers had identified or were searching for a suspect or suspects, adding that the department had “told the family it [is] following leads, but will not release more at the time.” Yorktown Police Chief Kurt Walthour also spoke with the outlet, reiterating that Price and her family can trust in the department’s processes. “There’s a lot of man-hours put into it. I know the Muncie Police Department, I know their detectives, and they are working very, very hard on this,” Walthour said.

Ben Affleck's Heartfelt Revelation After Losing Both Parents

Ben Affleck’s perspective on life shifted after he lost both of his parents, mom Chris and dad Timothy, in the span of two months. “It’s a big year of life. My brother [Casey Affleck] and I, our parents died just two months apart, beginning of April and June,” Ben, 54, told GQ in an interview published on Tuesday, October 6. “That’s a lot, man.” News broke in July that Ben and Casey’s mother had died at age 83 on June 2. Earlier this month, Casey, 51, revealed at the Venice International Film Festival that their father had also died recently. During his interview on Tuesday, Ben opened up about how his parents’ deaths affected him. “It just brings up all these — I mean, your childhood, how you were raised, you see things differently, you appreciate your parents in different ways, and you think about your own mortality and your own life and your own children and what you want to do with it,” he explained. “And the bare fact of the very fleeting nature of all of our lives kind of stares you back in the face. And you realize, yeah, we only get so much time.” Ben also reflected on what his mom and dad’s deaths have taught him about grief. “Often the end of life isn’t full of wisdom and resolve,” he said. “Stuff you haven’t fixed in life stays unfixed. And in the case of my mom, she was pretty extraordinary and brave. I mean, she’s an amazing woman and her death really did cause me to even more deeply and fully appreciate her and her life.” Ben continued, “But yeah, you face that stuff and it makes you think, ‘OK, how do I want to spend the rest of this time? Because you realize there’s not all that much of it.’” Looking back at his relationship with his dad, Ben said they had a “complicated” dynamic in Timothy’s final years and were “not as close.” (Timothy and Chris divorced when Ben was a child. The Good Will Hunting actor and his brother were primarily raised by their mother.) “It is horrible, but it’s not tragic,” Ben admitted. “You think it’d be really sad and not a tragedy. That was an interesting thing. This is normal.” The Accountant star, who shares three kids with ex-wife Jennifer Garner, added, “I certainly don’t want to outlive my children. That would be the worst thing I could imagine. So this is the way it’s supposed to go, but it’s still really sad for me.” Ben broke his silence on his parents’ deaths during a September 30 appearance on the “Streets We Grew Up On” podcast. “It’s sort of a big thing, and it’s caused me to start thinking about my own childhood in ways that has been a little bit different,” he said. “I’ve certainly learned to even more deeply appreciate my mom and really value and see what she did and what the sacrifice and commitment that she made and how complete it was.”
